hi, please test my text adventure. the download is <1.5MB.
i need to know if it works.
this is one of those (very)OLD School games where it's nothing but words,
and you type stuff like go north, get the red brick, eat steve's face for dinner, etc.

i would like to know if it works on your computer, whoever you are.
thanks,
bob

hey, thanks for trying it. my biggest concern is just that it works.
Spiel:
basically you're this rogue agent that travels the galaxy and gets involved in stuff...
whatever's going on at the time. in this bit, you have to stop a
war (or make it happen really fast...your choice, 3 possible endings.)

Howdy ,

tested your text adventure...

Somehow I don't think that DB is a good option for this kind of game.
~or~ you may be approaching it incorrectly however,

have you heard of Quest ~from~ Dataware?

you can download it from here:
http://www.datawaregames.com/html/qc.htm

This might assist in making this genre .

problems I had with your test adventure are as follows;

for a text adventure it was slow to load.

entering text was lagged , ie type in a command wait for about 20secs for it to be typed and executed..

Regards

Allan

Escobar ,
i don't get those problems. mine loads in about 25 seconds total,
and i never have seen the command-lag. it's probably something
about your computer.
i don't know about quest, i will check your link.
thanks for trying,
bob

[EDIT]
here is the link that people whould probably download, it is the finished product:
http://forum.thegamecreators.com/xt/xt_apollo_download.php?i=955255

also, now i see that quest is an "adventure creator program".
i'm not necessarily interested in this genre. it was that challenge
of DOING IT ALL MYSELF that i wanted. and got. and succeeded at.
thanks anyway.

The size restrictions in the compo make DB a more probable option the DBPro, my own effort is in DBC too, and I do get a bit of lag with text entry - but it's on a 450mhz laptop with 98se, so I expect it'll be dandy on new PC's.

I'll miss the deadline for sure - but I really just wanted to go back to this genre again so I don't mind.

I'll have to check this out tonight, g'luck with the compo Ibol.

I'll prefer to keep it. KTHX! Besides would you rather eat my face or chic 'n' stew?
