For some reason this file is sometimes found by dbpro. In my retro game i
put an extra line of code to remove this problem. The thing is, windows does not detect this file, so i have no idea what is going on.

lol... it always happened when i tried to create packed file in db standard, but whatever it actually is - deleting it doesn't harm anything, just as leaving it doesn't either - i just think its a bug in windows that it shows up now an again.

happens when you use ftp in explorer to

As far as I know, the "thumbs.db" file is used in WinMe (at least) to store thumbnails for a "My Pictures" folder, or a folder that is set up to contain pictures. Ever notice how the "My Pictures" folder "works differently" (has an image previewer in the lower left of the window, has a different folder icon, displays image files as thumbnails instead of normal icons, etc.) in Explorer than other folders? This is part of what is different. Just ignore the file.

You can make any folder work like the "My Pictures" folder by opening the folder, then selecting "Customize this folder..." from the View menu, click Next, then "Customize" and "Choose or edit and HTML template for this folder" and selecting "Image Preview". After doing so, the thumbs.db file will show up there automatically.

Eds right - the thumbs.db only appears if you view a folder in "thumbnail" view because it's like a mini cache of those thumbnails. Don't want one? Don't use "thumbnail" view in Explorer

I have deleted loads of thumbs.db files from the retro entries so far

Cheers,

Rich
