Unfortunately this is where everything stops - The DX 8 is no longer availiable (and isn't compatiable with VS 2005 anyway), and unfortunately its not present in the June DX9 SDK.

One thing I do NOT want to do is use the VS 2003 SDK, so Lee - any chance of fixing this ASAP (ie move everything over to DX9) ?

Download this and unpack into /program files/microsoft directx 8.0

Setup the header and lib paths under your development tools/options/project directories. Make sure it preceeds the dx9 paths, i.e. above the 9.0x entry. This should resolve any unresolves for dx8.

Seems fine on 2003, but then again, 2005 may be ok with PSDK installed also.

The PSDK is fine with VS 2005 (but doesn't include DX)...

It does seem fine now, with a bit of fiddling...

Now to rebuild all my demo programs, especially the Dancing Man one...

Thanks for that - your probably one of the few remaining people who have the DX8 stuff left

@Apexnow
thanks for the download.

Just for the record:

No problem... don't ask me why but the paths worked pefectly the way I suggested with 1.1.1, but it seems as suggested with the new 1.6.2 libraries.

Uh, if you want to save HDD space. Just grab the .lib off the internet and place it into the DX 9 directory. Express will find it in the directories you already setup and it's the only dx8 file you require. If I'm wrong, I must be magic, cause it works fine for me.

Much regards,

This dependence has been removed in the new GDK to be released around Tuesday/Wednesday next week.
