I really like the "auto" camera collision feature in DBPro and it works pretty well. It's one of the features missing in DBC that I noticed right off after trying the DBPro demo myself. I ended up purchasing DBPro for the many commands like auto camera collision that you get with Pro.
Anyway, auto camera collision is great for FPS - all the demos I've tried seem to work great with it. For 3rd person views, combined with the "SET CAMERA TO FOLLOW" command, it can be pretty good too. You just have to "help" the camera avoid places in your world where the thing the camera is following gets on the "other side" of some object in your world and the object ends up obstructing the view. In these cases, you can move the camera to one side or move it closer to the thing your following. If you've ever played Tomb Raider games, you can see the problems that have to be dealt with when objects start getting in the way of the camera, and you can get a sense of how they are dealt with in a nice 3rd person game.
