I love him so much I decided to try modelling him. Since i'm not much for organic modelling it will be good practice for me. Here it is so far:

For those of you unfamiliar with jimmy here are a couple shots of him:

Update:

It looks very odd to me, and im not sure what is wrong with it. I think the nose needs some sort of change but i'm not sure what kind. Obviously the materials aren't final.

well, theres a whole load of problems with it to be fair. as a 3d artist, you need to accept the fact that you don't really know what anything looks like... and then use as much reference as you can.

but what you need to do first is find out what the meshflow of the human face should look like, its very specific, and once you've got the basics down, you can add to it, move and shape it to almost anything you want. you can get a load of topology reference from here, and a very helpful picture at the top showing the planes and areas of the face.

theres an excellent subdivision modelling tutorial here, which although it goes slightly too high poly for games, shows you how to make a great stylised head, and as i said above, you can then take that base and edit it towards what you want.

Ah that first link is very helpful thanks alot, i may restart the head and have another go at it paying more attention to topology.

human anatomy is so hard to model. just look at how horrible my hand model is. but i found out the more you practice and the more you draw. your anatomy gets better and begins to look alot more like what you wanted it too. nice try though hope to see the revised head.

hmm theres quite a few things keeping your model from realism.

1. The nose is too weak, jimmy's is very strong and his nostrils are bigger. It also protrudes at too less of an angle on your model.

2. The eyes are humongous, not to mention the wrong shape.

3. The divit above the lip needs to be stronger, more defined. Looks too soft and un real.

4. The bottom lip needs to protrude more, and it come out from under the top one, there is a slight over lap there. On your model they meet at the same place.

5. Jimmy's cheek bones are much stronger and more defined than yours, they stick out from the face more. Your 3/4 view looks very flat.

6. The head on your model is cut off at the bandana, I've drawn in the correct proportions.

7. The neck is a bit far foreward and too straight, it needs to have a curve in the back and meets the torso at an angle.

8. Jimmy's jawline is also very square, you'll need to definately fix this.

9. the bridge betweent eh nose and the forehead needs to be deeper and maintain a curve, Yours doesn't do this as dramatically as the real face, or most faces in general.

ok ive drawn the jaw a bit too low, but it still maintains the same shape. Also the lips need to protrude out alot more, almost like a mick jagger type structure.

no problem, its really hard to see things in your own work that you looked over.

Its also very hard to make a 3d model look like something else from all angles, as opposed to a drawing from just one angle.

So have you taken a lot of anatomy classes oddmind or is it somthing you have just studied on your own.

Just wondering, what band is little jimmy urine from, is it Rammstein, or is it some other band, or maybe not a band at all.

of course it wont look right the person your modeling it after already looks way wierd j/k keep it up and you'll be able to get it what you want it to look like.

I've taken some classes yea, but I've gotten better by studying it for a long time.

Don't get me wrong my anatomy is definately not perfect, but I have just learned from mistakes I used to make that I never found out until I studied for a long time.

MSI is crazy crazy .
