sounds like you constrained your axis to xy. so you can only move it at xy.

err not really cause ive never had that problem. but go to customize>show ui > show floating toolbars. and one of the floating toolbars will say axis constraint try playing with that to see what will happen.

dark heart,
Do you mean that you are unable to use the Arc Rotate or the Pan view functions?

or your just lying hard about warez.

Usually the manuals that come with your software will solve this issue.

sorry man, can't help ya I use standard default layout in Max 8 so I don't know what keys your talking about for strafing?!?!

I use pan view for movement and center mouse wheel for zoom....

edit: try "Customize" menu and revert to initial layout, maybe you changed one of the settings for the arrows???

I'm with Indi on this one. Dont mean to sound negative, but just a very brief...and I mean INCREDIBLY SHORT glance at the User manual can tell you how to move every which way in Max...

I don't use max but is there some kind of preferences menu? Cuz maybe you can set all your prefs to default and perhaps it'll get fixed. That's my two cents. Hope it helps

it comes with printed manuals, so you just put your foot right in it.

Ha, you dropped your self into the sh!t there did'nt you.

OK sorry, but obviously your rather noobish, and you most likely (like 90%) dont have a legit copy.
But if you mean how to pan the camera up or down when using walkthrough, you need to click the viewport, yep its as simple as that.
And if you did read (or have) the manual you would know.
