After downloading Entity maker I had a look at the source code in Dark Basic Professional and since my programming skills are good enough, how would the community like it if I made a free weapon creator for everyone? I know Code Master is making one that isn't free but before I start programming it, I would like other people's views.

That would be great! It takes long enough to model a gun, texture it, and animate it already. Some forum members might say people who want this stuff are too lazy to do it manually, but I have an excuse. I have to use 2 different computers, so everytime I completely make a weapon, I have to transfer it to the other computer, if an error occurs, I sometimes have to go back and fiddle around with files and whatnot, it takes alot longer than it should. So if you made this, it would make the job so much faster. Good luck with this if you do it, I hope it is succesful.

Ok, just remember it won't do the modelling, texturing and animating. It will only set the gun position, preferences, attributes and write the gunspec file.

I am sure the FPSC community in general would appreciate a free weapon maker.
For the record no weapon entity maker at this point models, textures or animates your weapons.
Opposing Force, keep up the good work.

that would be sweet, a program that you can drop in your already modeled/textured weapons and you can animate them and then hit a 1 button export button...wowzers...

Lol, obviously it wont do those things! I was just saying, it already takes me long enough to model, texture, and animate weapons to a fairly nice result, but when I export and try to pop it into FPSC, I get problems. This would make the importing job much much faster (well, for me anyways).

Sounds intresting. You'd probably be sacrificing a great deal of flexibility though...

Ok, thanks everyone. I did a bit of work on it. Remember this is going to be based on the entity creator. I think the hardest part will be getting the HUD model positioned in the right place. I'll occasionly post a demonstration EXE so keep watching this thread.

this is a weapon creator, not a weapon modeler.

Guys, I believe he stopped work on it. And please stop refering to it as Weapon creator, That's My App's Name. It gets confusing with two 'weapon creators' lying around

Well, a weapon creator is a weapon creater no matter if you used it to create your weapon creator and named it weapon creator...

But maybe you are right, this silly thing (I don't know what I'm saying, hehe)

Why don't people call it "Weapon Coördinate Editor" or that with FPSC before it. That would be better... As I still think there are a lot of people think that this program generates a free new weapon for you or something

Cheers,

MaarX
