Colors and lights are good , but actually, the height isn't realistic at all.

Oh shut up.

It's a great game landscape. Makes me think of the old comache games. Great landscape, I can think of a dozen uses for it.

I have Ted, it's okay but I never use it these days. 3D World Studio is much better because it will export as a single model rather then in sections.

Indi, this isn't even the same thread. My comment here was in no relation to any previous thread.

This poor chap didn't come on here asking what they think of the landscape, his question was about the landscape editor he should use, and the example provided demonstrated what his current editor was able to achive. Instead of a reasonable comment in relation to the question, he had "it's not very island like, it needs to be rounder" and "the height in unrealistic". which given what he is actually asking, is as relivent as a 2000 word post about the three mole's on my right arm, and how they form the same pattern as a constallation.

Kenjar, you been raised among hermits or something? Stop ignoring reality.

As for the landscape, some parts look too jaggy and I would have to see it close up to really judge the lightmap quality and resolution. (A ton of landscapes like this look good from a distance, but blurry at normal level)

The title is Check out my Landscape..that would imply that he wants us to, check it out, so to speak. The image he posted doesn't help to compare panorama to TED as there isn't an example of TED's capabilities. I would assume then that he is showing what he made and wants to hear what we think..

Anyways, it looks nice, i like the lighting. I'm not sure what scale its supposed to be on, but if its an island I assume that the bumps are fairly large mountains/hills, and therefore the texture should be tiled a bit more. Then just make the edges of the island more jagged and it'll be a great island!

Hey nice landscape, as most people have pointed out most if not all island are not perfect squares so a bit of rounding is need and again the scale of the hills/bumps whteva they are need to be either decreased or the island made bigger i like the lighting though, other than some mine scale problems it looks really good as for kenjar wht the hell most people no matter what people may mean by there title if a picture is included in the post it will be critiqued so for god sake stop being a tube

True. I think Panorama is some sort of (home made) editor. Maybe a hobbist or something made it, I prefer my work to be professional and respected, go with t.ed or Geoscape.

Could you zoom in to where the camera height would be? From this perspective, it seems the texture would be far to low res...and I mean FAR....

@David iz cool -
Nice looking terrain. Personally, Strata Works + Paint Shop Pro all day for me. Nothing beats a real AT, and the texture it creates is quite good. Not to mention Strata Works is free (WIP section)

As for the previous comments on this landscape:
Quote: "Hey nice landscape, as most people have pointed out most if not all island are not perfect squares so a bit of rounding is need and again the scale of the hills/bumps whteva they are need to be either decreased or the island made bigger"

Any AT (I know this isn't, but I'm comparing) is going to be a big square, and any exported heightmap has to be a square. You just have to disguise the squareishness with water, or mountains, or such. So, the shape isn't important. Rather, it's standard.

It is too hilly though. Most terrains are too hilly. Don't know why people do that.

Quote: "im leaning toward ted,but am not sure.my only worry about this program is that my framerate wont be good using it.anyone here have it & think the fps are high using terrain from it??"

That depends on what type of terrain you're going to be using. Basically, if you can export a heightmap for use in creating an Advanced Terrain, then you're in business. If you can only export a mesh terrain, it's going to be slower.

Come see the WIP!

well, the only thing im looking for in a landscape editor is vertex coloring!i just want to make my landscapes look natural, like real life.i guess lightmapping is nice too though.

ill look into strata works, ive heard of it,used it a long time ago.does it have some sort of texture blending?
what can it export to??
