I've known for a while that my DB creations work faster on my Win98 than my Win2k (I have a dual-boot, so same system specs). Having tried my DB code on my 2nd machine I also see a loss of frame rate when running on Win2k. Has anyone else noticed this ? Are there any system tweaks I can use to get Win2k running DirectX quicker ? Seems a shame to develop a game on Win98 that looks great only for Win2k users to get a drop in performance. Unless it's my machines

I coded every single DB thing I've ever made on a Win2k box (DBPro=XP) and while it is ever so slightly slower than Win98, its hardly noticable at all. The loss of frame rate was tiny. I would look closer at how your Win2k box is configured.

Cheers,

Rich

You should start syncing all movement to the computer speed...

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

well i knew that win2k had a slight performance drop since its made for work not games (i think). but the speed in your game shouldnt change as much as it sounds. maybe you have some trojan horse? not sure though
