Hello, Lee & Mike & Rich.

What about Smart Filtering in DBPro? Free description and sourses of this tech: http://www.hiend3d.com/smartflt.html It is rather fast and looks very nice. What do you think?
I'd like to change the world, but God doesn't want to give me sources!

Oh... definately. DBP currently uses Bilinear I guess, but that smart filtering look really sharp mmm....

Trouble is, it can't be done in hardware yet - which would make it really slow probably.

However, they did say that pixels shaders could possibly do this... Raven?

You could always do a pre-initialisation (pre-render) step on the textures, and then use the modified forms, and then get rid of the originals.

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Not too sure about that, as the end textures would still go through bilinear filtering by the renderer, which would mess them up.

On my system, there is a clearly visible FPS hit, but considering the massive improvement in visual quality, I wouldn't mind too much.

POINT SAMPLE: 60 FPS
BILINEAR FILTERING: 50 FPS
SMART FILTERING: 40 FPS

That's really good!!!!!

On my P4 2Ghz 512MB GF4 I got a solid 60 with any filtering and on my laptop Duron900 128Mb SavagePro I got a solid 30 with any filtering.

Take care
