From what I've read you need to spend thousands of dollars on professional software like 3DS Max just so you can make your own characters in FPSC. Seems kind of stupid that we can't use Blender or Anim8tor.

What about Caligari Gamespace? Doesn't cost thousands of dollars. Very intuitive compared to 3DS Max too.

yes you can, you can use basically ANY modelling package, dont just think 3ds max is the only thing out there

i've been told by someone else that the ONLY program you can use to make the animation skeletons for characters for FPSC is Character Studio in 3DS Max. Of course that was very discouraging to anyone who doesn't have wads of cash and isn't trying to make commercial games with FPSC.

you can use milkshape for animations too. Its really good and only costs $30.

then that someone else is a fool, most modelling packages include animation and bone features, all you need, is a directX exporter.

Hmm,.. I currently have Blender, Anim8tor, Fragmotion, DBconverter, Lithunwrap, Photoshop 5 and Paint Shop Pro (forgot which version) , and Entity Maker. Is this all I need?
I know I can make objects and model/animate weapons with these as there are a few tutorials I've read and watched on object and weapon making.

But I've yet to find a tutorial on animating a character model and going through all the steps to get them FPSC ready.(hopefully a non-3DS Max tutorial will show up) I hope one shows up soon, that would be peachy!

btw its anim8or, not anim8tor. Why do you think they use an 8 instead of an A?

well, what kind of application may i use to edit fpsc's main model?
i don't care the prices
i cant open .x file using 3dsMax, so what do i need?

I'm not sure if it's the best but I'm trying to figure out 3D Canvas pro to make people.
