every time i try to change a setting to the fog, and press okey, i come back there to find out that it's gone back to what it was inicialy. how do i fix it?

Yeah i have the same problem, somtimes it help to press the preview button before hitting okay.
if that doesn't helps compile the game go to the
MyGames\***your game name***\Files\languagebank\english\gamebank\discovery
and edit the setuplevel.fpi file directley, works 100% for me.

Don't use that editor and just open the setuplevel.fpi in notepad and edit it there.
You can find it in your :
C:\Program Files\The Game Creators\FPS Creator\Files\languagebank\english\gamebank\mygame

oh, i just did, i put the fog to 10 and that's all i have to do right? but it diddn't change anything. when i play the test level it doesn't look any different...

unless there's a way to increese the framerate without fog...

I don't think the fog function in the setup files works.
You can search the scripts forum for "fog" for more info and for some working fog.
Gravematter has a a working fog entity.
And I released two in my model pack.
