Aliens are real! you all laugh at me now and think I'm crazy! but when I post a video of me with an alien, you will all be sorry!!!

you can use a cubemap to fake reflections...

does anyone know that teapot with the environment map? it will reflect like that

I'm working on a shader that reflects, not a fake reflection, may use such a shader...

s4real,
Your mirror is looking good so far.
I have textured mirrors but as far as I know it would be difficult to have a reflection in the mirror especially since FPSC does not have a player model (one of several reasons there are no hands).
There was a thread in the scripts forum about mirrors that covered this but to simulated the actual reflection would require an invisible wall,a fake model and some other things and I think the slowdown on the FPSC game would not be worth it.

Edit:I have made some mirrors.I don't want to hijack this thread so if s4real says it is okay then I will pst them here.

Yeah go fot it fredP.

@Nighthawk : would like to see the results of the shaders when they done.

@Zaibatsu : Reflection is the hardest part as fredP has said, slow downs might be a problem but im working on some ideas.

Nice pics FredP! Creepy old house...nice looking mirror, is this for a game you're working on?

But make those bathroom entities dynamic to get rid of the horrible lightmapping errors..

That is cool.I never thought of doing that.
If you use the Signs program it has frames you can use for you mirrors although I think the mirror you are using and the setting it is in an unframed mirror might look better.Excellent job.

The Reflection part for the character just not going to happen with FPS creator.

But i have loaded a vid of a method that works ok.(but far from perfect)

Its looks like the mirror would have to be with out the character.

Link to vid.

These will be the three mirrors i will be releasing.

I will prob release a mirror that will have Reflection but this would have to be for set rooms as its only a optical illusion.

Reflection only works for the room you set it up for, i hope nighthawk has look with the shaders but i dont thing we going to get true reflection as of yet.

Just watched the video, very nice! Wondering how you did that, I'm thinking you have a mirrored replica of the room on the other side of the "mirror".

It seems like I'm seeing a lot of cool stuff for FPSC lately.

Brilliant video.Did you make a hole in the wall and put a duplicate room on the other side?
An idea I just though of earlier is to take a screenshot of the room opposite the mirror (what the mirror may reflect if it actually reflected something) and use that to make the mirror with.
Either way...however you did it was genius. Now if you would like to share your technique with the rest fo the class...lol.
Then again,I can't blame you if you don't.
Great work.

Thanx for the comments here is how the first one was done.

Bathroom mirror :

1: Build the room where you want the mirror.

2: Once built the room move the sink forward and take a screenshot from behind.

3: Once taken the screen shot did a flip horizontal of the picture.

4: Now you have to cut the picture so the door is in the middle of the mirror but has the same amount of the room on both sides, best results is like i did is have a wall next to the mirror on the right.

5: Take your mirror and place it as layer one then have the reflected picture as layer 2.

6. This will take time but blend the bottom picture into the top picture so the mirror effect come threw but not to much.

7. Place the mirror/reflection in the frame and replace original mirror.

8. Because the door is more in the middle it will look like it moves when you do.(if you get it right)

Have fun.

Hallway Mirror:

1: Build the room the same as you would for your game placing the mirror where you want it.

2: After building your room make a new segment behind the mirror.

3: Place full light marker in the segment and get rid of the mirror.

4: Take snapshot from behind the mirror would be (In the new segment you just made.)

5: follow the same as the bathroom mirror for the reflection.

6: This works well with an item in front of the mirror.

7: Once done get rid of the segment and replace mirror.

Final Method :

This method is a clone of a room but without adding to much to your game.

1: Make your bathroom as you would in FPSC using a normal bathroom mirror.

2: After you built the room make a smaller room next to it.(look at picture.) and replace the mirror with a small hole.

3: This room is a lot smaller than the original and does not need to be that big, the most important part is the lighting for the effect to work.

4: Make sure you have a door that would reflect in the mirror like you would come in to the room, the door can be on triggers so when you get near the door in the room the reflection opens the same.

5: Make a trigger point before the door, this is the trigger to activate the modle(this was not spawned at the start) so when you go into the room he wlks to the mirror at the same time.(AI script was set to follow)

6: Thats it, if you get the lighting right and try not to put to much into the other room, (i only used four items in the room that was the mirror) you will not use that much space in ya game.

7 Tip: The mirror room has to be darker than the orignal room.

The picture has been replaced with the correct one.

It would be that way if you look into a mirror.

This is what give's the effect.

Check the vid and you see it correct, thats the hard part it looks wrong but works wright.

A mirror is a reflection thats backwards that y writing is backwards in a mirror.

Im pretty sure You are wrong.. I tested it right now in a real mirror, and things are still on the same side, even if mirrored! And I see as well in a first person perspective...

Ok im not going to get into a big issue here.

1: When you look into a mirror and you look to the left you will see the reflection of your right wall.

2:when you wlk to the left you will see the reflection of the rest of the room from the left.

Please not this is with a mirror near a wall on the right so you can get the effect right not in the middle and is a small mirror.

Does anyone else feel this is wrong please let me know.

"Ok im not going to get into a big issue here." No, why shourld We do that???
1. If I look to the left in the mirror the reflection will bounce into the left wall from were I am standing..
2. Thats impossible in the reality. But the room You built in FPSC works like that..
No more comments from Me...

Great idea on getting a mirror s4real, but mr love is right your small room is rotated not mirrored. Door and bath should be swapped and rotated 180 degrees.

The big problem here is that the wall are so deep.. It wourld look mutch better with a thin wall! Just use the same wallpaper on a thin entity wall, and I think it will look mutch better...

I will have to try that many thanx for your help.

The other effect works ok but you do have to make it pretty darl so you can only see a little of the reflection, but with a thinner wall you prob could have it a bit brighter.
