I could do the same thing, with about 100 polys, so I think its still too high a poly count. It looks good, but its using too many polys.

Higgins is correct, however. Since the sconce/walltorch will have it's face count doubled when it's triangulated, you will be looking at close to 1,000 faces on the model (I don't think you needed to model the wick, as it will be covered up with the fire sprite...definately don't model the fire itsef). Put a handful of those into a long hallway or dungeon scene, and you've used up quite a few polys out of your budget. Still looks good, but I have to agree with Higgins.

Oh,yeah.I forgot FPSC doubles the amount of faces...anything to suck up my pc's memory...lol.
A lot of times you can make a low-poly model and use the texture to add the little details.

Actually, most game engines double the faces; but by saving in .X format right out of the modeler (or .3DS), the object is triangulated.

ziabatsu, i havent decided as to whether it will be a freebie or not.

keith c, that is not a wick thatyou see, it is the y axis indicator of the 3d software.

higgins, please read the whole post and you will notice that i said i had to put it through the poly reduction process. and i highly doubt that you could model this below 250 and keep the mesh believable unless you take away the support arm design and add a straight arm with little appeal.

Now that's going to come in handy (I like the little hook on the wall mount).
