I recently got DBPro. Though when I run any of the BASIC 3D example codes I just get a black screen with the white text. And I am sure my computer meets the requirements...

Pentium 4 (1.6GHz)
256MB Ram
Nvida DDR Geforce 3 Ti200
Windows XP

I have directx 8.1 installed, patch 4, and the IDE updates. I managed to make a simple program where I could see a cube spinning. Thanks for any help.

Any pauses where they shouldn't be ? Do you have a main program loop ? Any example code ?

Good news everyone! I really am THAT good...

Yes, I have patch 4 installed. And none of the BASIC 3D codes work.

Very strange... I have a virtually identical system to you and it works fine.

Try installing DirectX 9.

Done that,
It didn't change anything.
I tried the BASIC 3D shocase example with the asteriod and changing effects...it works perfectly. However the BASIC 3D example codes don't.

yes, it does say hello. Since I last posted I have a few of the examples...and some of them worked. When testing the commands in a simple program (i.e. 3 lines) they work. Could someone run one of the examples from the help files...

Commands/BASIC3D Commands/

and tell me what I am ment to see.

PS. Thanks for the help.

MrTAToad:
Sorry dont know what DXDiag is.
The white text is meant to be there, its in the code. However the objects aren't shown, it's just a black background.

Thanks

P.S. can I paste the code that doesn't work, without being sued?

Of course you can Oliver

to use DXDiag (it tells you about DirectX on your system)

Click the Start button in Windows, go to run, type in "dxdiag" then press enter.

Here ones of the codes copyied exactly from the help files. I get a black screen with changing white text.
And in the DXDiag window under each of the categories it says 'No prolems found'

Thanks

Have you got the pixel shader file ? I presume GeForce3 's can deal with pixel shaders...

All the files are sort of big (ie 15 megs).
If you have DBPro open the project:

"C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic Professional\Help\examples\basic3d\basic3d1-example.dba"

Yes, it works for me - sort of... Jumping from cartoon shading back to, say, normal textures doesn't display the texture correctly..

I think your thinking of example 2, which does just display information about some loaded objects and nothing else.

Yes, example 2 is very odd. I though something would be displayed in that, but no, there isn't..

Could someone try "C:\Program Files\Dark Basic Software\Dark Basic Professional\Help\examples\3dmaths\3dmaths1-example.dba" and tell me what you see. I get a black sphere, and I sure that's not what I am ment to see. I think that vertex shaders don't work on my computer.

Thank you very much!
