Yes it can do all the stuff it says on my site - and I'm adding things all the time.
Whats that you say about Lee making a 3d MapMaker...?
I've now finished the help file and just finishing up any remaining stuff
I've made a few demo maps ie. the screenshots above, and on my pc which is 350 mhz I can get around 50-60 fps, depending on how complex the map is...which is pretty good for my PC...will hopefully run even faster on other pc's.
The program will be shareware - ie there are certain restrictions to what you can do with the unregistered version, but you can still do cool things with the unregistered version.
Hopefully I will have version 1 ready and online by the 20th

Are you going to be adding matrix features, or do you already have them? Ive found it quite hard to do matrix editing in my map maker.

Why the hell'd you ask me for crying out loud!?!

Map Maker 3D is available to download now:

http://www.thegameszone.has.it

You can load in a MatEdit matrix (as shown in the demo which comes with the program), and then put objects on it. MatEdit is avery easy to use Matrix editor, so I thought this would be a good idea.

Download it and tell me what you think!

That is truly amazing !!! Very slick and well done. I have a few things that I noticed, advice, not insults:

- The object switching appeared to only work one way (ie. you could only scroll forward through the objects and not backwards) and it also happened very fast, you should make it so it only goes one forward or backward per press.

- The scroll object texture should scroll the texture only while the arrow keys are pressed, but it scrolls even after you have exited the scrolling mode.

- You should be able to rotate the camera down as well as left to right, so you can see what is under you.

- You should have an object representing the lights or you cannot see where they are !

And also what are the controls for switching between lights and matrices? You have done a really good job there, did you make it in DBC or DBPro?

Hamish

p.s. Where can I find out about matedit?

Yes, it's only 500KB so it's very fast to download.

Thanks for the advice

-Object Switching: You can scroll forwards and backwards on my pc...are you using + and - (try using + and - on the numberpad and the keyboard next to backspace. I know the scrolling is pretty fast - you can get to any object - you just need to tap it gently - I'll probably change this on the next release though.

-Scrolling Textures: This is done deliberately, because I thought effects such as running water, conveyor belts etc. could be then created.

-Camera Controls: I'll improve the camera for the next release - how about using the mouse to control the camera?

-Lights: Yes, I'm doing that at the moment, I agree it is dificcult to know where the lights are.

-MatEdit can be downloaded from www.matedit.com

-Map Maker is made in DBC

Robin

ps. How do you mean - switching between lights and matrices?

I mean, switching between different number lights, so you can edit all of them even after you have created more than one, and dito for the matrices.

Hamish McHaggis:
You can switch through objects by pressing + and -
You can switch through bitmaps by pressing [ and ]
You can switch through lights by pressing ' and #
As you can only insert one matrix, you cannot switch between them.

Armaggadon:
You need to download MatEdit if you want to put in a matrix - and I would recommend MatEdit to everyone. Download it from http://www.matedit.com

I have been working on improving Map Maker already, and the new version should be online shortly.
In this new version, a lightbulb appears where a light is, which is much better, scrolling through objects, lights and bitmaps is easier, and there is a preview of the current bitmap which appears too. YOu can also look down.

Is there anything else you would like me to change/are there any bugs?

Thanks
Robin

Version 1.1 of Map Maker has been uploaded -

Lighting works(!) - I realised the lights do not work when you open a map with lights in - this has been fixed, and there is also a light bulb where the light is.

A preview of the bitmap appears when you type it in.

And some other things have been corrected, ie. scrolling through objects etc.

I have not put mouse look into this version, I'll put this in in the next version (sorry about that!)

Download the new version from my site
http://www.thegameszone.has.it
(Still 500KB )
Robin

Armeggadon:
MateEdit saves the files as .MAO files but you need to press 'B' or click on the brick wall on the menu to build your matrix. The MDF file is then created and also a bitmap called '_whatever your map is called'. Put these two files in the same folder as Map Maker to load it into your map.

I like your new site design! Better than your old one, apart from the text goes off the side of the blue margin, is it meant to do that?
