Hi,

Just wanted to shout about finally getting my first textured character actually running around in DBPro !

It's not good enough to show, but the fact that all the parts came together is so satisfying.

1)I modelled in 3ds max 8.

2) I exported to bodypaint using the bodypaint plugin, and imported back into 3ds using the same plugin.

3)The animation was done with biped, and using the 'physique' modifier in max

4) Whats great is that step 2 & 3 can be swapped, so that if you fancy animating first before you texture - YOU CAN !! I should know...I did it...

5)The whole thing was exported using the pandasoft .x exporter

6) And loaded into DBPro. I used some simple commands to have him running round with the cursor keys, and the animation looping at the relevant run cycle frames.

SO if anyone needs any help getting the above steps to work let me know... (as the .x exporter, bodypaint and 3ds need certain setups to work properly...)

Hey dude. The first model is satifying, I was very satified getting one to work in TrueVision 3D SDK and once I get one as the player in Torque, I'll call myself God.

Bodypaint is a cool tool, I am currently trying to win it in a competition. Hopefully I win, its such a sweet app.

However mate, who cares what your model looks like, show us, we can give you tips and comment on your model, thats what we're here for.

Cheers for your cool comments Musashi,

Okay here are some renders of my first 'innsmouth' low poly model.
(well it's 1690 polygons altogether - not sure how low that is.)

I used the FPS motion files that are free to download from here: http://www.fpscreator.com/downloads.html to create the animation and it worked a treat !

I've got loads of work to do on the body and might just delete it and start from scratch.

The head just needs some pointy bits ironing out to make it look more organic, and I need to spend more time on the texture.

Please remember this is my first low poly model, and i'm a bit of a perfectionist so I do plan to get better and better all the time...

Any comments will be most welcome..

thats not such a bad model, you should have posted it first time.

yeah, making a fully go model is satisfying, like a medium rare steak.

I don't have a sig, live with it.

That model isn't half bad mate, your poly count is fine, its about average for a game model. Certianly beats my first attempts at low poly modelling
