Ok, i got the DXDebug thing working, i had to re-enable the Debug manager in services. So much stuff to do...oh well, i guess it's worth it in the end.
Ok, so here's an up to date on the situation. I have DirectX SDK 9.0 (2004) installed now. Below i have provided each page of the DXDIAG tool that i felt were relavent the situation at hand:
DirectX Files:
Several files (gcdef.dll, directx.cpl) are old versions, which could cause problems.
Several files (d3dx8d.dll, d3dx9d.dll, d3d9d.dll) are debug versions, which will run slower than the retail version.
Music:
No General MIDI DLS file was specified in the registry.
Network:
The registry information for the service provider 'Internet TCP/IP Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'IPX Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'Modem Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged.
The registry information for the service provider 'Serial Connection For DirectPlay' is missing or damaged.
So, there we are. I'll try to update to a newer version of directx tomorrow if that's what you think i should do. I really just want to get this working as soon as possible. Even if i get the august version of the SDK back onto my computer and working fine, won't we just be back to where we were before? Will i still not be able to run the sample viewer?
Thanks again for all your help guys, it means a lot to me.
