i have not done an animation for a game.
what should the key frames be like?
how many frames should i have per move?

usually if full rotation is required usually 3 keyframs start middle finish will prevent the motion going the wrong way.

It really depends on the movement required.
jumping has a series of fast and slow moments
eg: jump height hang time

If you base your game on 60 fps then a little experimentation will yield good results.
