wohoooooooooo!!!! my first RED, HOT, FLAMING thread!!!! come on!!!

right...sorry. Let me explain, Sector 23 is the one that got taken over by the USSR, Sector 24 is the neighbouring sector, which as you can see by the map (below) is getting invaded by the Russians.

Here's the map of Sector 24

I am currently working on Hanovarian.

Rightho, i've posted the team list so far, go to www.reaperstudios >>> members.

unfortunatly, i'm gonna have to say that we can't accept any more programmers. but we could do with an audio guy. other than that we have a perfect team!

a big thankyou in advance to everyone that has joined us.

earlier on i also sent an email to most of the team members containing the password for the messiah forums. if you did not get one then please mail me your email address ([email protected]) and i'll send it to you ASAP.

cheers

that would be very nice although we don't need ship models now it would be good to show people that we have made some progress. but only model it if you have some spare time. if you want me to draw up some more views for you then don't hesitate to ask.

could i ask you to register in the formus? you won't get any spam or anything. it's just you need to be registered to access the team part of the forums.

i have also sent you the password for the forums.

right, i've got to go now.

but tonight i will map out hanovarian in full. i think to start with, it will just be very basic models like lamposts etc. but can i ask you not to model them now as all of the objects in the game i want to have a unique style. i will draw some objects tonight as well. i will also draw the other views for the Panavia Jettison.

thankyou everybody

and just to explain the map, the format is:

PLANET NAME | NATIONALITY

NUMBER OF CITIES

GB=Great Britain
SP=Spain
UN=United Nations
RU=Russia

Came up with this in the last 25 minutes or so. It could use alot of work. But Just figured id post my progress.This is the panavia jettison by the way.

EDIT:

Just realized that the game will be written in DBC. IF I can dig up my limb animation program you can use it for animations. Because im using milkshape and I only know how to do bones in that. so we will need an external animation program.

Sorry i haven't been on for a while. first of all, a very nice demo you've got there sixty squares! i liked the camera movement.

second of all i have done some more concept work. all of which i have posted on the website (www.reaperstudios.co.nr >>> projects >>> the messiah). these include more views of the Panavia Jettison, a building, a map of one of the cities in Hanovarian and a lampost.

if some of these could be modelled (lampost, building and Jettison) then that would be great @the arrayinator, nice work!

Thanks!

I've made a couple of level editors before, just none of them use the mouse . I don't know how to/have any GUIs lol. In my game METAL RUNNER I made the levels using my own custom level editor.

1. You register by clicking REGISTER in the REGISTER/login section in the upper left hand corner of the screen. This is only visible when in the FORUMS section of the site.

2.In DBC you must press BUILD FINAL in the FILE menu. In DarkEdit it is a purple button. They will take every media file in the folder and include it in the EXE. For some reason it doesn't like the SET DIR command though...

i've just sent sixty squares the password for the forums.

also to all modellers: between you you may choose which models you want to make, i have no preferences.

before a level editor is made, i need to start work the game engine.

is there anyone who hasn't been emailed the password?

this is how i have decide to work it:

on the forums (rs) you will find a topic in the code section called game engine. there will also be a library file in there. if you feel you have any usefule functions then download this file, add them and then upload it again. please download the latest version of the file.

latest update:

modelling | in progress
game engine | in progress

i have just added the first edition of the game library. included is the .dba file, and the help files (html).
also, here is our first
Quote: "big team discussion"
. teh subject... what sort of collision should be used? sliding or a physics programme. this is for on the ground.

i'm sad to say but we lost death swarm oh well, good luck with ur GCSEs M8

anybody checked out da library code?

and on a completely different subject, physics. there will be 3 states: in space, flying over ground and on the ground. for in space we will use simple pitch/turn/roll object command. i've got some aircraft physics lying around somewhere (extremely long) it needs some serious work but i think we'll use that for the flying over ground physics.

Age means nothing. If you want to program, don't let age be a barrier. I understand that there is quite an abundance of the younger generation on TGC, but I recently turned 21 and don't look to give up programming ever! (even though to date I have made only one very simple game and a couple of dud applications!) I still play video games on a regular basis on the vast collection of consoles and games that I have (34 consoles, 250+ games...)

p.s. I don't look to giving up playing/buying games/consoles ever, either! (despite already running out of storage space for them!)

I am a Christian and I know that God loves me. That is what makes my life so great!
