There are 12 complete entries, I just haven't updated that page yet. Given the quite low number I probably won't bother until after the results are announced in the newsletter.

Hugh? I thought that they were 12 entries. Or that means that you are sure that you are super good? Note: I didn´t enter this one.

I think it's 4 prizes / 12 entries.

Oh . Thanks for the comment on my editor. As soon as it´s totally bug free and with more features I will release it here for everyone. (No release date yet)

Good luck to everyone that entered the software comp!

In the newsletter they say something like:

"Special Thank You: As a way of saying 'Thank You' to those who dedicated their time entering this competition, we are awarding ALL entrants a free copy of Dark Physics."

So my question is, where/how can I get it?

Maybe a MOD can help here or tell how to do?

Is it possible to know the complete 'hall of fame' regarding this competition ?

Many thanks

We'll email all contestants tomorrow with prize collection details, including the free copies of Dark Physics.

Mika - We don't rank all of the games, we only pick the top four. All titles and the ranks are in the newsletter. We do this mostly because it's not really fair to say to someone 'hah, you were absolutely last!'.

That's kind of you MODs (that there's no "complete ranking", otherwise my game would have a high place-number (>10))!

Too bad, that my "optimized" version didn't reached you in time!

("Optimized Version": Uses D3D-Text instead the standard-text-command, this leads up to 50% more performance, cause the standard-text-command eats a lot of it, if it's used so massively as I did in my "game"! I read about the D3D-DLL too late, so it didn't made it into the contest-version!)

(For the ones who want to try the "optimized" version of "PhysiX-Brick-Breakout" they can e-mail me!)

But after seeing the ideas the other "opponents" had, it was clear that this (my first DB-Pro-) game had no chance against them!

(You see that I'm a beginner in DB-Pro, because the option-selection was taken from a downloadable-physics-demo as well as the reflection for the ball and I had no real game-menue! )

Hoozer, don't put yourself down. You entered, which puts you in the top 12 out of the hundreds of people who could have entered.

My first competition entry was horrendous, but it was the start of a hobby that's kept me busy for the last 4 years. You can't beat entering a competition for making you learn fast

BatVink's totally right! My first competition entry was, well, a noble effort at best. A very sad game at worst. I haven't gotten to try any of the games yet, as I'm at school and on a Mac, but I'm sure that ALL the entries are better than my first game, "Fury". (not to be confused with "Rolling Fury"... I guess I'm just a furious person) In fact, the ghost of "Fury" still exists on TGC's website... for those who need a laugh.

But seriously, entering these competitions is a great way to both learn and motivate oneself. Every time you enter, you'll learn a little bit (or a lot!) more and eventually you'll be making high quality games for everyone to enjoy. Keep up the good work!

Thanks @ BatVink and Spambergo

Sure I learned a lot about (Dark-)BASIC and I love PhysX (I tried C++ and the AGEIA-SDK, but that is a bit more difficult than DB! )!

The reason why I entered was the "hope" to win such a great piece of hardware (and the hope noone else trys to enter the comp)!

(I would really love to play around with the fluids, but at the moment the money is really short, cause I have no job actually!)

To all who made the games I can only say they earned my respect in all ways they can think of! (I played some of them and they are great fun!)

Not bad, not bad at all

Congrats to everybody who entered!

Is the hardware deadline still Nov.15th?

Are there any hardware entries so far?

If the deadline was extended to Dec. 15th (or later) then I think I could have an entry ready, I have been too busy lately.

BillR - Yes and no (in that order). We won't extend the deadline due to the NVIDIA contest clashing with it, but if no-one enters the hardware contest we may well re-think how to handle it, post-NVIDIA deadline.

For everyone still testing out the DP-Software-Mode-Comp-Entries:

I have given an updated version to Richard Davey and he updated the website (where the Software-Mode-Entries are listed)!
(You can alternatively download it via the link in my sig from "rapidshare.com"!)
(TGC-Version: "..._v2.zip" != Rapidshare-Version: "...-V--1-2.zip", both aren't the same! V--1-2 has a hardware-fix, TGC-Version does not!)

This version shouldn't require anymore a "ninja-PC" to run!!!

The new version offers (Some changes):
-Better performance (up to 50% due to the use of "D3D-Text-Commands" instead of "DB-Pro-Standard-Text-Commands")
-More options to setup the game correctly (box-size, time-stepping, etc.)!
-It has a highscore that gets saved into a file and loaded when you start it up again!
-Also new is that you have more levels (each level the ball-speed rises a bit)!
-The handling was improved too (no lagging bar anymore)!
-No "ball-bar-tunneling" anymore!
-Bar gets colored if ball is in front of it!
-New bar with angled sides to improve the "steering" of the ball! (More or less! )
-More sounds!

Have fun with it (as far as beating Highscores is fun for you)!

Good luck to the ones who enter the Hardware-Mode-Comp!

@dark coder:
Be sure you won't be the only one!

I hoped it too, as I wrote my "game"! In fact there were more entries than I hoped in the end!

@ all:
I exspect the same in the Hw-Mode-Comp, the time to develope is/was longer, the prices better, so I think the 12 entries of the Sw-Mode-Comp will be topped!

(Indirectly my game is now also Hw-Mode-Compatible, cause now with the max amount of boxes of "6270", it would be worth to try it with a PhysX-Card! Use the rapidshare-link from my sig, it's a fixed version: V. 1.2)
If someone has such a card, it would be nice to know if my "Hardware-Support" works properly! Or if I have to change my collision-detection to the "DP-style" to benefit from the Card!)

Good luck dc (I suppose you have some big thing in developement!)

Good question, I asked that before the end of the Sw-Mode-Comp and got no answer, so I submitted 23:xx o'clock (German-Time-Zone)! Later I saw that I can adjust in my profile to the timeoffset from the server and it says now "Your Time Offset is: +7 hours from the Server time", so I guess they maybe take that (Server time) as reference! (But most possibly I'm wrong!)

Would be a thing for a sticky-thread (a comp-FAQ where all such questions/answers are placed that are always the same) (or maybe it is somewhere already, but I didn't found it)!

Good luck Cash!

Results will be in the newsletter, as explained in the compo rules It may seem like a long time to wait, but it's only 2 weeks, and believe it or not, it actually takes time to play games, screen grab them, review them, and capture and edit videos of them

I believe you, Richard! But in most cases I suppose it makes fun to play them! (I'm sure my game-version for the sw-comp wasn't that fun! )

I must admit, the waiting time can make a participant a bit nervous, BUT somehow it makes it even more exciting/fun to read the newsletter!

Thanks It's a bit of a hollow victory though. I mean, 2nd out of 3 doesn't seem that impressive. The HW competition was a smart choice. I knew there wouldn't be all that many entries, but I sure thought there would be more than 3.

Thanks Hoozer, I too thought there would be more entrants.

@Rich, IIRC the rules stated we had to claim our prizes from you within 7days of the deadline, do we have to do this? since the author.txt files had all of our contact info inside, and I can't find the rules anymore so some clarification would be nice.

They're going to e-mail us some forms to fill out and get notarized.

Quote: "The winner will be notified by email and must respond within 7 days of the drawing. The Prize Winner will be required to verify address and to execute before a notary public an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release, which must be returned within 14 days after notification attempt."

In this case, they will initiate contact. You can read it all here:

After I took part in the SW-Comp, I thought about entering the HW-Comp too! BUT I thought it would be unfair, cause I already "won" Dark-Physics in the SW-Comp! Anyway, I wouldn't had a chance against your nice thingies!

I cant believe that my entry won. Talk about luck. I guess, I can look at it one of two ways. I got last,,,or I got 3rd. LOL. oh well I guess I will just enjoy my prize. I'm kinda disappointed that nobody else participated, but it did kinda cost alot to get the "hardware+physics". I havent even got my rebate check in the mail yet. Well congrats to all who beat me out.
