Is there a file or a post or something listing the changes in the new update? I can't seem to find one...

ah i figured it out... i had to uninstall the old gdk first. Originally i chose modify in the installer thinking it would install the new components.. but then i went and uninstalled the gdk, then installed the new one and then it told me of whats new in the update.

Hmmm.. interesting.. its still asking for atls.lib tho the documentation/lee said he removed its dependency for us express users? or something or rather... Compare my program now and then (previous version of the gdk)..

THEN: The only way I could get the gdk to work with strings and some other stuff using the vc++ express version was to set my project up like so;

- I did not have code generation set to multi threaded.. it was in fact set to multi threaded DLL. I know the gdk says not to do that, but it seemed to be the only way to get it working and have everything working.

- I was using the /FORCE option in the linker command line, if i didn't, i couldn't use strings from the <string> header.

- And i had to ignore specific libraries.. they were atls.lib, d3dx8.lib and libcmt otherwise the program wouldn't run.

After all that the game ran perfectly. I did get a whole stack of warnings when compiling (about a gajillion of em), but the game ran like it should. Everything worked.

NOW: Now i have the project set up like so;

- Not using the /FORCE option any more.

- set the code generation to multi threaded.. not DLL any more.

- now i only have to ignore atls.lib.

From what I can tell the game runs perfectlly and everything is working.. and now i only get 1 warning when compiling and nothing else. Seems to be working better, or more as its meant to anyway.

But what am I doing wrong/should be doing so that the compiler doesn't complain about atls.lib?

Cheers.

Lee has said the Platform SDK is, unfortunately, needed (unless you ignore it, of course).
