First Daz with Bryce 5 promote Bryce 6 with freebies, Content Paradise are using the same idea with Poser 5 and 6... The site is slow for me, and the downloads seems to occupied for me...So I assume their servers are busy as hell.
[edit] the servers really must be busy if I'm getting 69 kb/sec

Rememebr that you can NOT use the poser models for any games, or anything other than for a sill picture. So not worth a lot to 3d game makers.

I know, but its good for composition, being a 3D artist, I will find use of it to visually scenes I am gonna make, then model them for real, which makes poser a very useful tool.

You could always edit the models and use them for cinematics or you could use them as basic outlines for your models.

I havent even started the download...it wont let me.

Poser exports in I believe its own file format. However you can open it up in modeling programs and export it as a .3ds and then change that to a dbo if you want...

Im gonna remake these models...into low poly ppl.

If I remember correctly, when Gogeta X started his first attempts at an online RPG he was using Poser models, so he must have use an exportor...but I never saw them actually in DBP...so, he might not have...

lol, give it time, their servers are insane, as long as you have taken your product to the check out, I don't see why it shouldn't let you download after the 4th...I'm going to try and get it ASAP just to be safe.

Yes, register (less back tracking later) and then you can find Poser 5 it in the free stuff section. From there, you can add it to your cart and check out. This will get you can e-mail with a serial number and a download link. Have patience on the download, but getting the serial number is the priority thing to do if you want this.

I wish I could ask Contect Paradise to set up a bit torrent of the setup files, but it appears that their site has died.

For those who wonder to what Poser can export: Viewpoint, RIB, BVH motion, Quickdraw 3DMF, 3D Studio, DXF, HAnim, Lightwave, Wavefront OBJ, VRML.

Note: this was taken out of Poser 6 because I can’t find my Poser 5 CD to say directly out of it but as far I remember the export formats didn’t change only improved.

I personally used OBJ mostly since I use TrueSpace so it imports almost perfectly with luuv plug-in. Only downside of almost every Poser model is the poly count. In Poser 6 normal detail model is around 50k faces while high detail is 100-110k faces. In Poser 5 it’s for 30k less if I am correct in both high and normal detail models (that is if it's “nude” so cloth poly count is not counted).

I remember reading that, but now the rush of free downloaders should be starting to die down... perhaps tomorrow is a better time, but I've waited long enough already... plus you can only download the thing 10 times...

Success! If you have broadband, you can probably get in and get the two files before the server drops you. If you're stuck with dial up but you did remember to get the serial number before the deadline, send me an e-mail and I'll see about burning you a CD-ROM or something.

BTW, the forum mods are pretty anal about warez and I'm a by the book kind of guy as well. So, I will not be passing out serial numbers or anything like that. I hope nobody else does either. We don't want to piss on Content Paradise's generosity. So, don't even ask.

I have a bought version of Poser 5 and don't really use it. But for anyone that missed P5 have a look at Daz Studio. It is always free, and I like how it poses better. I get get things done in it much faster.
