I got grounded so i have some time to work on modelling again, I thought I'd try modelling myself. Just lowpoly so no huge facial detail or anything like that. As usual its being made in blender.

your pelvis looks like that of a woman... are you using reference images? and if so are they of a transvestite?

Oddmind is right though, its the pelvis of a woman As its of mucky...I'd be worried

Its a good start to a low poly model, I know what its like jumping off the high poly band wagon into low poly, you feel new again.

new progress, took some shots of myself to give me a general idea. I think i fixed the pelvis problem but i'm not sure.

Here is my reference:

I may end up either turning this into a high poly model or making a high poly version...i wanna model all the detail on the pants hehe.

Looks alright so far When modelling a head, remember that it is more of a square shape than a sphere. Look at the depth of your stomach area, its a lot fuller in the photo than on your model.

Also, look at the arch of the back, and where the shoulders sit....

Just some pointers

How old are you btw?? lol, here is me imagining some 23 year old mucky much ninja....

You're 17? No offence, but from the pic I'd guess you're 14... I guess you just look young in pics...

I recommend trying to get the sharp angles in your shirt in the model. They'd be low poly, and would really capture your style. Same for the pants, although the pants aren't quite as important, and they're pretty good already. And I think you should try get the angled shape of your hair in (I mean the part that's not the Mohawk). Also, you should make your neck thicker. Pretty good wip so far though!

Thanks for the comments/crit all. And yes lol peopel tell me I look young, probably partly the eyeliner i think..

Anyways I made the model follow the references a little more closely now, i have some more weight now lol and I think its improving. I wasn't quite sure wat you meant by angled shirt but I made an attempt at improving that as well. The hair is gonna be all in the texture, ive found that extruding to make hair like mine (besides the mohawk) ends up looking like a helmet, no matter what texture you use. The mohawk will have alpha mapping of course.

Your features are all pretty soft, which makes you look young. Eye liner probably helps like you said, because it makes your eyes look larger.

What I meant by angled shirt was to try and model the larger folds in the cloth, to make it look more like cloth. But you seam to have gotten it pretty well.

Anyways, it's starting to look a lot like you. Pretty nice.

oh btw, why do you have handcuffs on your pants? I guess I just think you'd look better without them. It's up to you whether you include them in the model though.

ah lookin a bit bettter now. Make sure things don't come to a screeching halt. Edgeflow is most important, and even moreso in low poly models.

Anyhow have fun with your makeup parties, I'm going to go do something... productive..

and by the way, the reference images need to be altered a lot since we dont live in an orthographics world, and since they are from slightly different vertical angles.

Thanks both!

Ya the reference's don't help all that much, but they helped with proportion and some of the basic shape and such. Edgeflow is somethin i'm not too practiced with, never quite understood how to make it right lol. I think im bout ready to start with texturing, unless anyone else notices problems.

..i have weird obsession with metal things like handcuffs and chains...
but those are cheap plastic knockoffs so i usually just have em on my wall lol.

Its getting there mate, but 17? No way you look that, but then that freak Aiden I know is about your size.

I'd add more polies for animation sake, remember, you'll bend at the hips, cloth has its own movement, your knees bend, so do your shoulders, elbows and hands looks fine, with out those additions, rigging will be a wee bit awkward, but then you can make the changes whilst rigging if it works better that way for you.

Lol I look extra young in those picts..dunno why. I added some polies although you can't see them, obviously the big change is a texture.

Im looking pretty weird since there is no geometry for the face really, and I don't have an easy way to fix this without redoing the UV map..ugh. But it is only 529 polies so maybe i'll just call it a very low detail model. Plus the texture on the hands is just plain ugly.

The model is looking pretty good so far.

p.s. comb the hair or get a real mohawk, not the emohawk!

Methinks Mucky ninja would make a great keyring!

Model looks good for 530 polygons, A lot of 'experienced' modellers wouldn't know where to start with that sort of poly limit.

Eh, I like my hair just the way it is thank u. And if i got a real mohawk i'd lose my job lol.

And yes i've had several offers from giants who wanted to use me as a keyring..i decided it wouldn't be as much fun as youd think though so i said no :p

Thanks for the comments, I still have to add the texture on the handcuffs and the straps, and maybe i'll try added geometry to the face and redo its UV map.

damn the man for keeping you down!

I can't model humanoids at all, especially at that low of a poly count. Are you trying to stay under a certain limit?

That sucks, I got picked up today as a possible concern with my dreadlocks, because the new head is strict on appearance. If she picks me up, then screw her. But for jobs in my area, you have freedom with your appearance as long as you wear the work uniform and if handling food products that it is hygenic in with the health codes. I mean my brother had a proper Mohawk working in as a chef in a classy(ish, the food is the classy stuff, the manager is crap at making it a classy place, although she does try to be a snob ) resturant.

lol, just, stand straight and say yes sir! In a stiff way, but then say the sargeant requires that your hair should be like that, and be very typical 'I am in the army'.

I used to have that style myself, when I didn't know what I wanted it to look like, then in 6th form, I though, dreads would be cool, so I started to grow them and found out I had curly hair...

I've got... hair. No style, at least not that I'm aware of. I like to have my hair fairly short though, as my head bulges a bit above the ears, and it looks like a lightbulb if it grows to long.

nice model, though I think you should fix the face, becase if you do, the model would go from being 'nice', to being 'awesome'.

Been a while since my last update ive been pretty busy w/ life.

I added some face geometry, and now everythign has a texture. Plus I deleted the handcuffs cuz they didn't look right on the model. It is now 484 faces. I didn't really have a limit, i just tend to make things really low poly when I am going for low poly, and really high poly when I don't care.

I like to use blender, free is good.

i find its easy to get carried away and end up with 10k+ polys, maybe its the way i make models...

good job keeping it low poly, were you putting this in a game or just seeing how your 3d self looked?
