sup guys,
i am currently enrolled in middle school and am looking for 3DS max. I found it form the orignal creators
for 3000$

but i searched "3DS max educational sales" and this link came up: http://www.studica.com/Autodesk/

its selling 3DS max 8 for only 594$. is this a real deal or a rip off?

and lastly which is better and more effective for creating 3D models. MAYA or 3DS MAX.

thanks,
-AE

Thats about the right price.

Maya vs 3dmax eh? Well they both have demos and light versions so find out for yourself, depends on your style, I prefer max myself but thats because I was trained in it.

its the real deal

most effective? whats the best car to get from a to b, a jaguar or a ford? in really depends on you, download the trials of each and have a look at what you prefer, its the only real way of telling

and just some information about maya and max, maya is used extensively by pixar iirc and max is used by ubisoft; whilst codemasters use both

Both 3ds Max and Maya are great, it is more how you thing. I like Maya better.

A slightly cheaper route is Cinema 4D, very powerful.

Although at your level. Unless you have to learn Max or Maya for school can I suggest. Milkshape? It is great for low polly games. Max and Maya by be over kill for what you are doing.

Milk shape is only $25 and a great learning tool to get you feet wet and see if you really like 3d. And I like I said great for low polly game models.
