Fed up with darkened dull lightmaps from 3dws? Want to make your lightmaps slightly more dynamic and colourful? Well today you can! A shader that changes the colour and brightness of your lightmapped object without any hassle!

An added bonus is that your texture coordinates don't explode annd Its basically plug and play!

It works perfectly it seems with 3dws levels (terrains may not work because of the vertex lighting) and it should work with darklights and gile[s] rendered objects too.

Heres a screenie

Unfortunatly it only seems to like working with Shader model 2. If your card doesn't support it... seriously buy a new one

Couldn't you just lighten the lightmap image? I'm not sure exactly what you're suggesting this does so I'll take a look and get back to you.

[Edit]
Strange! It almost glows! I'm going to take a look at the shader.[/Edit]

You could, but you can have over 10 lightmaps depending on the size of the level. This makes things a lot easier. Plus you can do things like light up individual rooms when you turn on a switch, basic day/night cycles etc. You wont get moving shadows but this should produce a fairly nice effect

If you want to program shaders I'm afraid you have to buy the books since online tutorials in this subject are usually lacking in details.
