Being only on this forum for a short time i feel people on here dont tlk to each other or give much thanx to peoples work.

Everyone is well happy at posting when something is wrong so why can't there be a nice introduce yourself section on the forums to get people in the habit of tlking to each other and for newbies to ask newbie stuff with out being flamed.

Only an idea.

Hi. How are you? The name's DV and some of us are ujust in a frantic right now because of the update problems. Me of couse, I and my crew are behind on our game project. When I have more time along with others I'm sure will get together in the showcase and realy have a ball. I know I will. So what kind of game are you tring to make? with FPSC or even Dark Basic/Pro? Having problems with anything ho wait search the fourms before asking questions that have been already asked. Well gotta get back to the project, Finish playing "Prey"
Half-Life2E1, SIN Episodes and Silent Hill2. Ho yea gotta install that FPSC source code. I also got Dark Basic Pro in yesterday got it all powered up. Now, I didn't fall off the banna boat on C/C++ or even C script, But this programming language is to put it in one word, "Outstanding" Now when I get a chance, I'll gaze into the real FPSC behind the editor and see what I can do. Take it easy and be well.

Because it never helps. This is for several reasons:
1) N00bs still post useless threads even though we have specifically made sticky threads to help them.

2) N00bs never search the forums and want every served on a silver-plater.

3) Non-FPSC related threads a usually shot down in flames because its not to do with FPSC. A board has been created for general chit-chat, called "Geek Culture".

@Avenging Eagle :

I inderstand there will always be silly newbie thread's but the idea of a thread for newbie's will help stop so much spam on the forum's.

Ive been on some forums where newbies can only post on the introduce yourself thread only for a short period of time.

this was only an idea im putting forward.

Why do so many people find it hard just to say thanks(i never know)

Not being mean, but primarily it's because it's a waste of space. What your doing is making a post that allows people who don't know what there doing to ask other people who don't know what there doing questions about things that none of these people know. so what you will get is a buncha questions that are easily asnwered if you read the manual or use the search button (provided that a bunch of new members dont tilte their threads 'noob question') and a million replys that read 'Any body?' 'does anybody know?' 'are you just ignoring me?', because noone knows. The forum is here for everybody that needs help even experienced members. It's just it gets aggrivating when the questions are elemetry level questions that are easily answered by the manual.Threads like this make it seem ok for those questions to be asked when it's not. The only way you will learn is by getting in there and doing it and creating a 'safezone' is counterproductive in this case(asking the unknowlageable for knowlage).So as I said I'm not trying to be mean, just giving you reasons why these threads get shot down.

Perhaps of course no-one chats to you yet because your new. I am in communication with numerous members of this forum over email etc. It takes time before people start to recognise you and your work.

And I agree with Dist13, the forums have been alot better since pointless thread started getting ruthlessly locked. Some of the work released of the last few months has been really good. It really annoys me too when people ask questions that are in the manual "how do I get an object to rotate", or even asking somehting that is frequently posted. THe number of times I've explained how to get rid of blood!

So I'm being harsh too. Its a nice Idea, but it's stupid.People who want to have a happy clappy get to know each other can go to Faceparty.com or myspace.com this is a game dev forum and the only way you're gonna make alliances, friends and partnerships is by Developing Games (and game media).

I'm not trying to get down on you dude. I've seen your showcase post and you've done some really nice work. But this is one idea I totally disagree with!

@dist13 and butter fingers:

Both very good points and never thought of it like that,i didn't know that so many people have posted when this can be fount in the manual.

I have fount everythink i need by searching the forum and reading the manual.

After ready your replys i can see why this would not work on this forum.

Thanks for your replys.

Dude, I'd just like to make something clear, I think it's perfectly ok to post a question, but there should be a process:

1)Attempt it yourself
2)Check the manual
3)search the forums
4)google search the forums
5)Post your question, with evidence of what you tried to do to solve your problem (that way, people wont suggest you try something you've tried already)

Also, you're eventually gonna realise, that FPSC can be quite a solo experience. If you're stuck trying something new and innovative, the chances are, that most other people are stuck on that feature too. I think its important to expand ones mind, and develop problem solving abilities, therefore it's a good thing to get stuck and work away at a problem.At the end of the day, learning from your own trial and error is much better than just being told. If you try it for yourself, you'll probably learn how to do 3 other (unrelated) things in the process.

Butters

(PS, that's not just directed at you s4real, it's more of a general rant!)

So... Why does everybody update regarding the fact that the upgrade is not good;P

I would say... Don't upgrade yet cuz FPSC 1 is working fine... Except some lags!!!

@butter fingers :

I 100% agree with what you saying and do that myself you not getting the point i was trying to get across.

A newbie thread would be for new people on the forum where people like yourself could help them with out spam the main threads.

I know this works as im on a few forums that do this also mods can jusst go to that thread and lock crap very easy with out searching all the threads at once.

New people for a short time would only be in the new section to post but could look around the forums for the answers they need.

I may be a pretty new here but have plenty of exprience on other forums that have had the same problems this forum has.

This was an idea and i know how to search and i do the same as you said above:

1)Attempt it yourself
2)Check the manual
3)search the forums
4)google search the forums
5)Post your question, with evidence of what you tried to do to solve your problem (that way, people wont suggest you try something you've tried already)

but its nice to see healthy feedback on a forum thanx butter fingers for your reply.

@MaarX
Some people need to find out for them selfs or they just dont read the forums.
