i am in the process of writing a menu for a game under development.

i usually do the menu in the end, when i feel a demo is ready.
but this time i wanted to make the menu first, because i had a brilliant idea!

if you are interested in helping me out with drawing the menu then read on:

the menu is nothing special, it is 4 pictures (or photos from those old optical cameras, that print the photo secounds after the picture is captured). they are meant to be positioned on a table/floor, face up.

they have written text (hand written font preferably) "New Game", "Options", "Credits" and "Exit".

the menu uses 6 images;
1) "color image" (that my code reads to indicate what item the mouse is currently positioned over), and the original menu.
it will be hidden under the original, and not visible to the user.
2) the original image that will be displayed at all time.
3) the original image but with the "New Game" picture Hughlighted.
4,5,6) same as 3, but with the other "photos".

i hope you are still following me?

if not, have a look at my current menu, and you will get some ideas of what i am talking about:

THIS IS THE ORIGINAL IMAGE:

I APPLY A COLOR MAP OF THIS IMAGE:

THE RESULT IS THIS (this is also the image for when credits is highlighted):

Why do i want a new menu? because i suck at art, and i know people here are better than me! and as you can see, it looks like some of those photos are flying in the air.

I hope you are interested in helping me out! you will get a position in the credits.

Lukas W,

I accually quite like your menu above. Oh well though. By the way, I was formerly known as NanoBrain. Remember me? Yea, I took a break from the forums and programming in general for a while. I have changed emails since then and have forgotten which address I used for that sign-in. Anyhow, I'm back...no big 'yippie', but I just wanted to say 'hi'.

Prosaic,
these are real images, they work perfectly well with my code.
it is easily moddable. just create the 6 images i mentioned above, and the code will automatically do the rest

a demo of this can be found on this adress:

[edit]HUH!? somehow the effects for the intro is out of sync (i'm using the timer for that) and the menu isn't working at all :/
it works perfectly well on my computer at home. i am currently located at work, on my laptop. (which ISN'T a gaming rig, just so that is said)[/edit]

CreamPie,
yea sure i remember you welcome back, and hello to you too.
i lost interest in the game around 5 months ago (and started working on the dbc version instead, now known as v1.8).

that was probably a good thing to do, because now i have a lot of other game making tools that i didn't have then, which will probably make this the best game in the serie!
some of these are "darkAI, darkPhysics, 3dws, enchancemet pack (for .ogg files), extend (for day/night), and more". and ofcourse, if jonny ree still have that zombie model, apply a shader to it and the game is scary as hell! especially if DaZ decides he want to do music for the game. (he made the song in that menuDemo btw).

anyway, glad to see you are still around

i tried to align the cards a bit better. that is my main reason for posting. maybe i don't need help with this after all.

in my opinion it looks much better allready.

the menu will not be finished until after the first level is modelled, because i will use screenshots from the game on those photos.
