Well I decided that I'd put something more into the modelling contest and started a 'prize pack 1'. Its a WIP. but hey it should be nice to see what you get and as I go along other people's ideas will be very helpful in making the pack better.

So far planned:
Full textured and some animated models;

Crates
Boxes (Done)
Tables
Chairs
Desks
cups/glasses/other scene detail items
A car (Half Done)
A helicopter (Done, its not in the scene, but it is done)
Tileable textures
Road tiles/pieces (Partially done)
City parts
Trees
A player or two (Maybe)

File Formats:
.x (Animated)
.obj (For universibility)
.dts (In a later version, thats for Torque users my friends )

And of course possibly sell it later.

Release date?
Silly question, for deadlines, I'm crap unless its coursework or homework and thats only because of Alevels, before that I made excuses left right and center to teachers why I didn't get my work done , but don't tell any future employers please.

Screeny of WIP;

A better look at the car

They looks great although lacking textures at this stage, perhaps I out to enter a compo sometime soon. and get a load of goodies

nit picking over nothing, but I think you're meaning universality... actually, is that a word?

edit: - is, but don't think it's right, oh well, my adventure of hunting for that word shall continue

Lol thanks.

As for the word, I make them up so often I'm beginning to forget which ones are real and made up...universality makes more sense, as the word isn't universable, but rather universal.

I believe Universalizability is a word... (No really, it is!)

The model pack looks good. And it's something I believe people will want. Most people want to make their own characters and stuff, but all those mundane everyday items are just a pain in the arse to make.

Looks nice.

One thing is wrong though. If you win the contest, that means you're a good modeler, and don't need to win them!

if the models are good though, then you've saved yourself a lot of time rather than making your models if you make games. If your a proffesional modeller(or hope to be one) then yes this thing is kind of useless.

Not really, although my philosophy is 'model your own stuff you lazy git' I still use other people's stuff as place holders, someone made an awesome Torque Tree Pack, I love it, I use it all over the place for place holding, same for Psionics dwarf. (Or in Torque Realm Wars Orc or Sorceress) But who says that the 'good' (When you say good I assume you mean the more experienced modellers) always win, I've seen less experience modellers win as well.

Thanks, thats what I had in mind, as well as the placeholder car, helicopter and character (May as well chuck in an airplane)

Sepp, it's about time you stopped shoving out good stuff...making me look all bad and stuff, especially since I haven't done anything recently...shame on you...shame shame shame...

Seriously though, they're looking nice, keep up the good work

Problems? Yes I used to have those...until I went insane.

lol thanks, its not much really to be honest, the road parts and other 'smaller' objects are quite simple and the car, well its the model from the tutorial I am making, which you can find in my sig. So there should be no excuse in not being able to make something like the above
