Hello there fellow programmers and gfx artists.. i'm in need of something. i need to know how to create some 3D anti aliasing without using oversampling(or even using that). Are there any methods or Source codes that you can give me to undersand this better? I'm not using DarkBASIC btw. so osmething as general as possible will be appreciated the most. thx.

Generally if you're using a 3D engine the feature it there or isn't there.

I myself don't know the answer, but of course, sorry if you know, but to look at what anti aliasing is doing to each frame graphically may be of use.

Imagine a lonely black pixel (poor guy) it looks edgey and rather square, antialias 'softens' that pixel, by having lighter ones around it, I have a useful image, but its in a book and I have no scanner.

If you knew that already, doesn't matter, at least you can't say nobody posted if no one knows the answer

ummm.. yes, i know that, and i know how to do it manually(poor me) but i need to make a script that makes the game add AA to what it's rendering, and in 3D. I know that a method is Oversampling, and i know the theory behind it, but it won't just work with GameMaker.. so i need something else. BTW, what kind of AA does GTA: San Andreas use? when i look at it from an angle (up or down) on a flat screen i see like a slight outline on the 3D models(especially Helicopters) that comes from the AA. That makes me think that there is some kind of a script that does Software anti aliasing or something like that. Understand what i need now? Thank you, and plz help me

For game maker I would assume there is a specific command, it its supported, I mean you cannot antialias in DBP and its 3D engine is more capable than that in GM, so I suspect for the rendering it wouldn't be done with out some sort of plugin/dll.

i dunno if this would work, but on some graphics cards u can tell them to use AA in any game even if it doesn't use it (nVidia cards for one). hits ya perfomance though.

Yes the ATI control center does that too, but I think he needs AA embedded into his program.
