Hi, everyone! I've just upgraded to DBPro and I'm having a few problems. I'm just going to check whether they're bugs with DB, or just me being a mug. If it's my fault, then I can get to work on sorting them out, you see, otherwise I'll leave them until patch 5 is out.

My object rotation order seems to be wrong. I've got a ring that is angled to 45 degrees on it's X axis and then spun through it's Z axis. Now, it works fine in DBClassic, but spins wrongly under DBPro. I've also tried fiddling with the set object rotation xyz/zyx commands, but they don't fix the problem.

The other bug is with dark ghosting - it just doesn't work. I can't really explain much about it, because it's hard to tell what exactly is happening. I'm going to upgrade to DirectX 9 and upgrade my ATI Catalyst drivers, to see if that helps, but in the meantime, is anyone else having this problem?

[Edit] One other thing, now that I think about it, is that syntax highlighting isn't working in the IDE. Numbers and comments hightlight fine, but keywords don't. Anybody know what's up? I'm just using the trial version (patch 3, IDE 1.0.9.2), if that helps.

Did you install *both* 1.0.9 patches? You should install the 'exe' patch first, then overwrite with the 'zip' patch.

There are (still) problems with object rotation in DBPro (at least compared with DB). I have a simple little thing I wrote originally in DB with a textured ball rolling in different directions under your control (bit like marble madness) it works fine in DB but has never and still does not work in DBPro (and I`ve tried all sorts of things to fix it).

not sure about th dark ghosting.

The only thing I can say about the editor is that it uses file(s) in the directory ....\keywords\ to highlight the keywords, if this is missing or your paths are screwed up then that would cause your problem.

I haven't installed any patches for the IDE, so I'm not 100% sure what version I've got; however, when I run the version scan, it tells me that I'm using Editor.exe version 1.0.9.2. Anyway, I've already found the keywords.ini file, but haven't yet done anything with it. I'll have a shot at reinstalling and see if that helps; if not, it's time to get my hands dirty!

I've tried all sorts of combinations as far as the rotation goes, and it still never rotates correctly, even when it should and does under DBClassic. You're probably right, Ratty - there are (still) problems!

I've played around with the dark ghosting a bit, just to see what exactly was happening. What I've found out is that dark ghosted objects normally become completely invisible; however, when a normally ghosted object is displayed above them, the dark ghosting object can be seen as a sort of 'stencil cutout' underneath the other object. Very strange. Perhaps my Radeon is to blame? I've heard that some bugs are caused by ATI cards...

Hmmm, thinking back I did get problems with the earlier patches of DBPro and any sort of Ghosting , some ghosted objects would be permanently behind all other objects. This seems to be cleared up now.

I have not used dark ghosting in a while, perhaps that still has problems?

Standard ghosting works fine for me, and I'm still only using patch 3 with the trial, so it might have been fixed in patch 4. I hope so - I'm getting the full version soon...
