Not too many updates today, but quite good bug fixes anyway:

1) Back slashes were vanishing, now they appear!
2) The "Code Snippet" block could overlap text sometimes, fixed.
3) Images not allowed in signatures now

Good call on banning signature images. The avatar should be plenty.

For what it's worth, I really like the present color scheme, and I think post counts lead to meaningless blather from people trying to get to the next round number. I mean, what's the point?

Getting rid of signature images is good, nice call.
I also think, now, post counts are pointless and all you get is people saying, "look at me I got XXXX posts". That follows with some unprintable obcenities and a moderator having to close/delete the thread.
Lets keep it sociable.

Hmm, dunno. A post count on some of the forums would be good. Knowing someone has a high count in the programming forum would be quite good.

Oh and Rich, any chance of getting the original joined dates back (were most useful)?

a high post-count might indicate they spend more time on a forum than they actually do programming

This is actually quite true. My own postcount went through the roof when I got bored at work and therefore got bored at home with programming (I program for a living).

But if you have counts only on some forums (eg. newcomers, programming etc) then you can gauge how helpful/good people are. If it could also split new topics from replies then that would be great too (high post in newcomers might mean you are always asking questions, not answering them). Also people are less likely to post rubbish on the decent forum topics (such as newcomers) just to up their count.

Coupled with a date joined (*original* date joined!) this would be a useful way to evaluate people initially (I used to use it when I started DB) when you are looking for advise.

On the threads list, wouldn't it be more helpful if the name of the person who posted the last reply was displayed instead of just date and time they did so?
Perhaps that would take up too much space for people with low resolutions though...

Then make the date and time a bit more compressed. Hell, at the minute it is pretty large. How about something like DDMMM@HH:MI? So 10Sep@15:25. Not many chars and still readable. Personally I would rather see the last person who posted to a thread than the time (so can see if anyone has replied). Although a new post icon would clear this up.

Unlikely. GPL perhaps but I doubt I'd charge for it. Too much hassle!

re: your email Blacksaw, all it said was "can I be a mod pls" and "PLS PLS" repeated over and over! Hardly a good indicator of why you should be a mod, how long you've been around, examples, etc. Anyway we've enough mods for now, will assign more as the post count increases.

Sorry but no. The only reason I won't is that this is now the DBPro site and the DBPro Forums. So the "joined" date is quite accurate now. I don't want people thinking DBPro has been around for 3 years If we ever put Apollo onto the main DB site then I'd reconsider it for that forum, but not here.

I'll make a post count visible to you and you alone.

The thread list will feature the last person to post, yes. I'll try and do the "new post" indicators today.

I been here scince DBV1.5 (I think)

I was Pittuck, Acid, and now Black Saw.

The only reason i did all the "PLS" was cause i have send loads of emails over the past year and no replys. (accept from Mike but he said to goto you)
There are a few things in my favour, i am a DBPro BETA tester Not just DBDN, i was testing stuff before that was live.

You sure i can't be one?
