Hi, just a quick post to let you all know that Lee has just about completed the save and load game option for FPS Creator. It will be FREE to all FPSC users and part of the latest FPSC patch file.

Features:

* Ten save slots, creates a screen shot and a text description
* Saves all entity states so game is the same when you re-load
* Quick save (F6) during game play
* Quick load (F9) during game play

Lee has also fixed the problem of entities taking about 1/2 second to come alive when the game starts.

We are just tweaking a few issues with it and should release by the weekend.

This is cool and in time for adding it to the user ran fpsc level contest. I have to ask though, will the patch fix the huge black and white character isse, along with the many others?

I hope it has nothing to do with the last two updates and it's a stand-alone update that I can put on V1.

Fred, just install model pack 3 to a folder, say on your desk top. Then select all the entity and segment files and put them into your V1 installed folder. Then uninstall model pack 3.

Guys, EVAN if the patch ONLY adds "save/load" no one has the right to cry.

We couldn't make a big game until now, sicne we couldn't restart in a far level.

All other bugs can be worked around by the user, while this one we coudln't

Just thank god they are releasing this this soon and not in V2.

Usres should have some faith.

This release will be a step on the road to an improved FPSC.

Its a long hard road so expect what you have been told by RickV and nothing more.

The majority view for the most important feature requested was Save/Load and you are going to get it along with some other fixes and/or improvements as TGC have said.

Not sure why anyone would expect more at this stage - you know how hard and difficult this stuff can be to do.

I trust that come the release you will all be happy and I for one will thank TGC for it. I am sure that at least those who wanted Save/Load wont be dissapointed.

Well perhaps I will thank them now - Cheers TGC have a good weekend.

Also, I haven't had alot of problems with patch 1.02, but I don't use shaders, and alot of problems seem to be focused at those

I dont believe the problems with the ealier releases had anything to do with shaders as such any more than V1 would have.

In any case those issues should be gone.

I look forward hopefully to everyone having a very happy week to come.

There are many users of FPSC who have waited a long time for this particular Updates inclusions and I know and have ardently supported FPSC throughout its turbulent history.

I sincerely hope they will be well rewarded. They deserve it.

Again I also thank TGC for their support of FPSC and the users here at the forum and wish everyone a happy time to come.

Catch you all on the flip side.

Heh,well before I redo any loading screen graphics, I think I'll wait and see if they actually test this prior to releasing it.

No offence Rick, but this comes on the heals of 1.0.1 and .2. Yawl's track record here in FPSC land isn't stellar. Ya guys fooled me once and got me(and allot of others) to install 1.0.1( only takes one time of sticking my hand in the fire. Didn't even try 2, only to sit back laughing at those that did).

Won't happen again....Ya know the ole saying "Screw me once, shame on you...Screw me twice, shame on me...."

If it's not even completed how bout posting once you guys did some testing. Then you can say it's about ready to drop like an overdue expectant mother.....If you guys haven't finished it theres no way it should be close to releasing.

^^ for me 1.01 really only helped me, i didn't had ANY slow downs evan on my low-end laptop.

Those problems with all the slow-downs with these 2 small patchs are really random, it slowed down fpsc for some, to others it didn't affect a thing.

For me, like i said, i don't have anything to complain about them.

ohh yeah, and its: "Fooled me once once, shame on you, Fooled me twice shame on me."

Peace

Higgins, I do completely disagree with you. This has nothing to do with ungratefullness.

You know I'm not ungratefull for FPSC at all and use it with pleasure. I'm very excited about the updates (as you may know as well), BUT.....

I've tried both patches on my game, Commander Josh. That game is optimized to the max and runs very smooth. I did put a lot of effort into getting it looking as good as possible, having cool features and yet still have a playable game on a good range of pc. And the effort payed of in the end and the result is very good.

When running the patch with Commander Josh, the framerate will drop so drastically that it's shocking. So, I've uninstalled both patches until a solution will be found for these unwanted framerate drops.

Am I suddenly ungratefull? Not at all, I'm realistic. The patch is a potential danger to my work. On some machines it works fine, on others it shows a huge framerate drop. That's not good for business. I don't want to end up with lot's of complaining players and customers at all.

So I stick to V1.0, until the issues have been resolved. Even TGC is admitting the issues with v1.01 and v1.02.

So me being very excited about the next patch, yet being somewhat reserved is suddenly called ungrateful? I don't think so. Not everyone is using FPSC as a hobby and with everything I use it for I have to keep my clients in mind.

I'm really excited about the new update and I'm hoping it will solve the issues of the previous ones. If not, TGC please do not release it, becasue you're not doing us a favor...... it's like giving a dog a rotten piece of meat. He get's all excited about it, but in the end can't eat it!

But, I'm confident that TGC will get it right eventually!

Yeah, some are ungrateful, some are jerks, and others are idiots, but most are fine. (I'm not going to admit which one of those describes me.) It's a big mixed up world in FPSC land and it takes all kinds of people to make it work.

Well, the 1.03 Release Candidate is out and it initially appears to work. The frame rate also appears to be restored to V1 state. The save/load works on new game builds, and should be able to be configured on previous game builds by replacing the menu screens with the new ones.

All is well in FPSC land.

Happy game making.

Sorry if this sounds dumb but is the update released then to just mods right now? I read in a forum that it would be this weekend. Has this changed or is it true?

I am very grateful for fpsc focusing on the fps creator and coming out with new content and updates. I can't wait for the save\load update to come out.

I'm with alot of others. Even if they don't include all of Emptys updates, commands such as

setsyncrate=

and

settargetname=

have gone a huge way to supporting allies and allowing high end machines better frame rates.

I can't express how strongly I would like them implemented in Lee's update.
