I think that it would be cool if I could show off some of my models. Sadly, i've been modeling for about half a year in milkshape, so i don't have any excuses to be bad at modeling. Thus, I want criticism. Here's a pic of my first model. It's designed for low poly count(592 polys) and small texture size.
Don't worry about hurting my feelings, I know there's something wrong, i just can't find it...yet!

It's all right - I think the main problem is probably the texture. I believe milkshape compresses textures, so they're not as sharp as they could be...

That would model actually animate quite well, so it's not as bas as you're making out; obviously it's not Unreal-standard but it's not bad...

Like Sim said, the model is not bad, and the texture isn't horrible.

I say, just toy with the texture, and otherwise the model is completely acceptable...certainly better than what I'm doing currently, and I've been modeling for approx 1 and a half years? IDK, something like that.

Problems? Yes I used to have those...until I went insane.

6 months is not a very long time at all, your still learning. I would suggest using one mesh to portray human bodies, extra ones for accessories and weapons etc.

the only reason that yours doesnt look realistic is proportions.

Study anatomy for a good while if you really want your models to look realistic.

It looks good matey, if you're like me, learning to model is slow because of other things that you do, to me thats a good enough excuse to be a slow learner lol, I've been doing it for two years, I feel I should be better than I am.

Its Fairly Good. Character modeling is very hard indeed and its getting the proportions right and a correct flow in your model to make it look right. At the moment the head is a bit to big, aswell as the chest. Apart from that, its alright. texture is so-so... but can be improved. As i said modeling characters is very hard... and you've done a decent effort for only 6 months of work there.

I've been working with 3D for about 2 years... and realy my speciality is rendering. Character modeling is still a bit daunting to me, and i've only realy started to get a hang of it.

So keep up the practice!

Ah, but I must point out, RS doesn't use textures for its characters, just colors on top of the low-res models.

Problems? Yes I used to have those...until I went insane.
