Here is an autorun template

Replace "the game's EXE" with the EXE file of the game, and "the icon, included on CD" with a ICO file on the CD. Then save this as a text file called AUTORUN.INF on the CD. Your all set!

Read teh manual from your cd burn software.

If you don't tell us wich type of software you're using, we can't give you STEP-BY-STEP help.

Nero is the easiest of them all and has diferent steps from Alchool 100% & 120%, like CloneCD/DVD has other steps.

Not to say the thousnads of otehr cd burn softwares.

But heres the basic:

1. Open cd burn software
2. start a DATA cd
3. move all files from your built game (don't forget that in FPSC you have to click on the build button)
4. click on start cd burn

But now, like i said, there are some small diferent steps for each software.

My love is seperated in 2 parts, 1 of them is 3ds Max 7, the other; FPSC.

I just copy my files to drive E: which is the CD/RW drive and Windows burns them for me.
I use FPSPack Pro and it lets you make an .exe which you can then burn onto a disk and play the game from the disk without having to install it on a pc.

Works great for me too. I use it a lot and its fast and dependable. If you have problems with it, it may an issue with your Windows or hardware. I see this type of problem most often when people have too many programs running in the background and resource is low.

The forum provides a means to hide our true identity. Too bad we always screw up and let it be seen.

It might also be the cd-r or cd-roms you use to burn your stuff on too.

Um... it does install to your system...

Good point, because I probally will forget it, have the guy who is making the latest FPSC EXE gig to replace "mapbanktestmap" with "%TEMP%testmap" and if DBP doesn't recognise the %TEMP% variable then simply putting it to C:WINDOWSTEMP will do... it won't work for all systems though...

I thought it copied the files to the temp directory while you played and then deleted them on exit... Which I didn't think was ,technically, installing... but please tell me why I am wrong!

Okay, technically you are right. It is only copying, but now 'installing' is being refered to as the copying of program files to the hard drive. I mean, don't you think it is a little missleading to say "play the game from the disk" if it is copying to the HD?

Okay, sounds a really picky now that I put it that way... maybe a re-wording would be better...

What I am after is the fact that it is copying to the HD, and the fact that that takes a bit of time, if it ran straight from the CD it would be faster starting and, well, could run on a semiful harddrive...

Yeah... even that sounds picky.

Just forget it... not really much of a point anyways.

Random: How do you like my new quote?

Yes I suppose it is... I too was being a bit picky... you are also correct, if there is not enough free space on the HD to copy the files to, you won't be able to play the game...

Another option is to use a self extracting archive which you can make with 7zip, winzip, winrar etc.
Then the user just runs it and extracts the game somewhere on their hard drive.
Easier and quicker to make than a full installer. Unlike fpspack the slow process of decompressing the data and coping to the hard drive only happens once instead of every time the game is run.

By way of demonstration, he emitted a batlike squeak that was indeed bothersome.

yeah, you were the second person to point out that flaw in rastas product weren't you? (lol, remember the good times... the excessive argument I had with rasta over his 'total content protection' gig)
