Hi

I started work on this monster this morning, using this picture as reference:

http://www.feebleminds-gifs.com/mutant.jpg

I used Cinema 4D CE 6. I think the model is pretty much there, now I'm going to set about UV mapping/texturing, and then if that works out, I'll move onto animating. If you're wondering about the hands, I gave my model those block things instead, well...because it was easier

Movie (3MB WMV) attached, wireframe view below.

Any comments welcome!

Very Nice So Far. You've Got the shape right. Wireframe is pretty cool... low poly! V nice. Cant wait to see texture.

Does CE 6 come with mocca?

Thanks Weighs in at exactly 1000 polys!

I'm not sure ce 6 has mocca (It's the free version of c4d). It does have something called C.O.F.F.E.E expressions (Is that related?) which...erm, well I've no idea what that does lol

Not realy. Mocca is a plugin that basicaly alows you to rig easy bones etc. and set up IK chains etc. Also it has a load of usefull animation stuff. I think F-Curves are only with mocca.... im not sure.

Ah right. CE6 has animation stuff, but you can't export the animations, so I'm going to be using Milkshape to animate.

Started UV mapping this morning. Had to load the model into Milkshape first and group the polys before loading into Lithunwrap to map it. I'm using Psionic 3D's excellent UV mapping tutorial which is really helpful. Almost done the front torso, I'll post another pic when I've made more progress.

OK, just got the arms to map now. I'm moving up to London tommorow because uni is restarting soon...but I should have the UV map finished on Sunday if I don't manage to finish it tonight.

OK, here is the UV map. Still not quite there, I'm constantly tweaking bits and pieces. I'm hoping because of the nature of the model and the type of texture I will make, small stretches won't be too noticable.

I've never mapped this type of model before, so if anyone with some experience could let me know whether it's OK or if there's too much stretching still, that would be great.

Yea, it's looking really good, but are you going to keep the monsters hands like that?

Cocacola and Pepsi aren't that differnt. Deal with it.

Thanks

Yeah the 'hands' are blocks the monster uses to punch things out of the way and thump things etc ...I can picture some of the animations I'm planning on making.

think I'm going to just plaster on body parts from the reference pics first (As you can see in the attached pic) and then I'll tidy it up and make sure all the seams join up smoothly. I can see this taking some time

Hey I'll have to paint most of it - I've only got a front view picture after all. But I like the picture anyway and it's going to save me a lot of work Hand drawing textures is not my strong point unfortunately, but I'm learning...I think I need to get a decent book about texturing.

Just an update in case anyone's wondering - I just got a brand spanking new laptop and am in the process of transferring all my files and programs across onto it. Will probably take a few days...
