You can make a sprite the size of the screen.

Or a 3D plain positioned correctly and locked to the screen.

Or use a Skybox.

Or put Texture Backdrop in the search box at the bottom of the forum to see other methods of doing this. This question is asked all the time.

I've always used a textured sphere. I make it twice the size of the level and position it's center directly in the center of the level. If you do that and just get an ugly green field, increase the distance away from the camera at which the computer draws objects.

If it is a one player game it is easy to use a smaller sphere, but reposition it at the position of the camera every loop.
