I've been doing a lot of live action stuff lately and I've put it together in a little demo reel. Hope you like it

The crazy,

I am on dial-up right now, but I am slowly downloading your reel. I myself, recently planned to create a demo for a local company. But, I quickly halted the project when I decided there was just not enough time. However, my wife and I are working on some other side projects for a later demo reel compilation.

I'll repost when after I watch your video.

The crazy,

That's not too bad. Were all the special effects and games made all by you?

Oh, I'm not doing it for a company. Just to show my friends.

Yeah, they were by me. With one exception. For about 1/2 of a second I think there is a clip where there was a robot from a maya book somewhere but other than that, it's all original.

@indi: Thanks

Maya and After effects. The things I was messing around with were mostly all the new stuff I'm learning in AE. Things like the lightsabers, lamp-post thing, cloning, ect were done in after effects. For the portal that I jump into, that was done in maya and added some special fx in ae. It's really fun you guys should try it if you're into video editing. They have a 30-day trial on their website.

I have been trying to get the trial for After affects for a little while now, but everytime I try, the downloading time just keeps on increasing every second(I don't have 48hrs of time to leave my computer on). I'm going to try increasing my download speed, but how long did it take you to download it?(or did you just but the product and they shipped it to you)

Well, it is like a gigabyte big Forgot to mention that... But it didn't take a super long time for me. I'd say a few hours at most. I've actually done it twice. Once on my laptop, once on my desktop. (Oh no! I got an extra 30 days I am a baaaad 'the crazy') It didnt take too long either time.

how much memory do you have in your laptop, because i'm thinking 1GB might be to much for mine.

Edit: I increased my download speed, and downloaded it in about 2hrs. Unfortuneatly though, my computer can't seem to extract the files from the zipped folder, did you have the same problem?

I've got about 100gb of memory. If you've only got 1 gig on your computer I'd be worried if I were you

[EDIT] If you meant RAM, I've got 2 gb.

As for the not extracting thing, I can't say I've had that problem. Sorry.

Only? 1gig is enough ram for a lot of things, man I must be behind with the times, I mean I was watching a 3D modelling video demonstrating performance, first he demonstrated a render thats set to use 4 gig of ram, then he said for those with only 1gig ram, he did it again set at 512mb...Me I only have 256mb ram...

BTW, nice visuals crazy guy, not perfect, but awesome, looks like you put a lot into it, for the light saber scene I probaly would have use a bokken for props, I don't know, I think it may have given a more realistic swing, its pretty realistic anyway, just a thought.

That was the memory of my old computer, but then I got a virus and didn't have enough memory to do a system restore.

yes, you can do alot with 1GB, but compared to the crazy's 2GB, it seemed quite small.

Thanks Sepp btw, what's a bokken?

Gamedesign er: 1 gb is not bad. I think it can handle after effects.

Indeed you can, after looking at the specs of the new Ghost Recon, I saw 1gb, I thought bloody hell to be honest, I seriously do need to catch up

Ah, I see. That's pretty cool. What we used were just rake sticks taped post it notes in 3 places. Then pvc pipe cut into designs. It worked pretty well. I used to use a couple of aluminum broom sticks that we screwed the bristle part off. They would always get dented and bent so we had to find a better solution.

[EDIT] Attached is a pic of my brothers from the short film, 'drug wars' also seen in the demo reel. It's unedited and you can see what I'm talking about.
