I would be interested in one... my friend made a couple of guns for me but he can't animate either... so this would help us both

I have been really impressed with your Melee weapons, so if the tutorial touched on those I would be very interested!

Since animation is the hardest of them all, bring it on.

I've noticed that some people in here become interested in modeling, so, the more tutorials, the better

My love is seperated in 2 parts, 1 of them is 3ds Max 7, the other; FPSC.

The tutorial at the moment is going to focus on making a handgun but I think adding some instructions to it for a melee weapon wouldn't be too hard.
It is actually easier in some ways to animate a melee weapon that it is to animate a firearm.
Right now the tutorial will show you how to animate a handgun with moving, firing and reload animations...the reload animation involving a clip coming out of the gun and being put back in.
In all fairness you can scrap the moving animation altogether.
If it is a small one that's ok but if it is too big it really screws things up.
There are also a variety of ways to deal with the reload animation...like moving the weapon offscreen and bringing it back again.
Right now I have the tutorial done to the point of where it shows how to place the joints and assign the vertices to the joints.
Sometime today or tomorrow at the latest (I hope...don't hold me to it.That's my best estimate...) I should have the animating part of it done.
While you can import your weapons into FPSC manually I recommend you use WCS or Weapon Creator when it is released.
It makes things a lot easier.
After you check out my tutorial on animating weapons (when it is done) I would suggest you check out Opposing Forces' tutorial on how to import a weapon into FPSC.
It is found in the models and media forum.
And don't feel too ad if you haven't figured out how to animate anything using Milkshape.
It took me quite a while.
Milkshape is a good program...once you figure out how to do something with it you have no problems...it's figuring out how to do it the first time that is a real pain.

I'll look into that I made a flat grass entity that works pretty good but there are segments out there that would be more efficient.
But I made a hill entity that works pretty good too and the hill is small so you can walk over it.
Milkshape's terrain maker kind of sucks and I have found it is easier for me to make mine from entities.

what I am specifically talking in nature to is making buildings that you can make and still be able to walk on any floor level in the building without getting stuck. I have had some success creating these, but in certain spots, in testing, the player will get stuck in spots.

That is what I am trying to do.
I am trying to make it step by step with plenty of pics.
That is what is taking so long.

Buy it.
It is the best inexpensive software for making models IMO.
I hope to have the tutorial finished sometime this weekend.
Possibly tomorrow.I actually had to lay down and sleep and that set me back a few hours.

You're welcome guys.
I save my guns as Milkshape files and I use Ultimate Unwrap 3D to texture them and convert them to .x.
Then I use WCS to import them into FPSC.

Not sure if Rich is going to be up for that, as we still haven't heard from him lately.

If you check with Bullshock he might donate a copy...or he might already have.
I know he has put ECS up as a prize.
I think Opposing Force did a weapon tutorial and you can find it in the models and media forum.

in any case $50 is kind of better than any pack (and I am sure all of it will go into buying something related to gaming )

Of now, the only thing I have bought is FPS Creator and Milkshape.

btw Keith, any news from Tyler yet? How long do you think I should wait before I choose a substitute prize?

Hmmm I guess too.
In that case, Model pack 1 and 2 both are out question, so I shall go for Jon's core pack.

Do I need to contact him directly?
