I just wonder how it runs on your AMD Athlon 64 3200 system?
I'm looking at them and wanted to know how it runs . I know it is about 2GHz frequency.
Thanks for the info and help.

It will work fine, better than any thing Intel has(except core 2 duo)

ok, when you said this im assuming that you have intel and will buy AMD.

here is basically how the two companies compare to each other.
(note this is before core two duo)

Intel: Slower, more stable
AMD: Faster, less stable

with core two duo the obvious choice is Intel.

Because most Intel processors are 3.0+ Ghz, people get those.
but AMD's processors are about 2Ghz.

the difference is that Intels processors are around 500-600 Mhz Front Side Bus (which is how quickly the processor interects with hard drives and RAM)

AMD, their front side bus is 2000Mhz and up.

so basically, AMD: Faster, Intel: More stable

(oh, i forgot to mention is that one you are buying AM2 slot because..........um, well, i think that i typed enough already, nevermind)

I hope that this solved your problem and gave someone a little more insight on computers.

And yes, i have all of this memorized, im a total computer nerd.

That's what I've been using. Overclocked just a hair.

Old MoBo but still does what I need.

oh, it's easy, i got an intel processor that was usually 2.66Ghz, to go up to 4.0Ghz with no extra cooling needed.

the processor was a steal at only $130.

if you want help overclocking, just ask or e-mail me, i've done it tons of times before.

Silent thunder, what processor did you get? If it is a core 2 duo, I think you mean 3.0ghz=/ I got my x6800 to 4.0ghz, but it did need extra cooling.

It was the Pentium D 805 (2.66Ghz each core)

core two duo has a slower fequency but a faster FSB.

Check this page out to see what i was talking about.

well, yours is cor two duo, nothing can beat it.

I just don't have the right mobo, i should have delayed buying my computer for just a month.

my Asus GeForce 7950Gx2 makes up for it though.

mine has four slots, its only half-filled with two 1gb sticks.

my mobo can support up to 16gb though.

it's just to bad that the 32 bit edition of windows xp allows only 4gb.
64 bit edition allows 128 gb.

also, i wish that 4gb sticks didn't cost $5000 and up.

I am currently using the Athlon 64 3000+ and FPSC has no problems at all with it. I think video will be a bigger issue than AMD vs. Intel once you get beyond 2Ghz or so.

The MB you are looking at has an AGP slot. I would find one with a PCIE slot. AGP technology has topped out and will not likely be updated any further. You will soon find youself behind on the video features with no way to update.

Best.

Thanks xplosys, for the info. I hope this will be the last one I buy for a long time .
I have about everything I need to build it so just have to wait for the motherboard and CPU and I can build it.

ah, LAME, it doesn't have SLI, lol, just kidding.

Pretty good choice though, just not much expandability.

why is it that expensive, it's crap compared to mine, that one has about 40 gb/s of bandwidth for example, mine has upwards of 80.
