Hello there guys!

Well, today i was navigating the net (again), and i passed on the FPSC site (for the billion time).

I saw the 'In-game screen shot', and something called my attention.

I enlarged it, and here it is, for my surprise, a 'stolen HUD' from a masterhit game, Unreal Tournament 2003/4.

(pic wich can be seen on fpsc site)

Now, this might have been done without the intention to really steal it, but, it's well writen in UT2003/4 that you can't use any media from those games, outside the very same game (you can use them in comics, and renders, but you can't sell those).

(official ut2003 pics)

In other words, you can't use any media from those games, on any other game or application.

Now before anything bad comes over our good TGC, i come to all forum members to watch what you use. The use of not authorized material as your own, can lead you to court, and get a big fine in your *censured*, and it can give a big payne in the *censured* of TGC.

It's not only the user who mad the mistake to steal others work, it's most likely they fall over TGC too.

This isn't a game, life is cruel, and if you steal others work, you will get cought sooner or later, and you will pay a fine and in the worst case, you can get up to 3 months jail (6moths to 3years jail in some countries).

Now dear forum users, i don't know who made that pic, and i really don't care, but as you can see, i saw it that the hud belongs to other game, and don't work for UT2k4 team, what would happen if i really worked in there and i hated what i just saw?

Also, if his using other game hud, how will he proof he isn't using without proper permission other peoples work?

Don't forget, we have some forum members wich work on EA, and i'm pretty shure we have some others that work on other big companies, and trust me, if they ctacht this, they are most likely to have to report it to their superiors, since that might put their work on the "edge", they can't look to friends when their work is hanging.

Regards,
DJ

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Have you even looked at the Huds, to tell them apart? Because the Hud you say is stolen, looks nothing like the UT Hud.

You just wasted your time posting this thread.

The HUD background doesn't look stolen IMO. Heavily inspired/cloned/traced sure but not stolen. The text bar is shorter, divot isn't in the same place, no transparency, etc.

If the text is a TT font that can be found elsewhere it should be fair game though if not I'd imagine it's been "liberated".

Good PSA nonetheless and valid points.

Maybe if you had posted those screenshots in the frist place, I wouldnt have laughed.

I can now see that the Hud is stolen from UT, but I dont know if it is illegal to use it, in other games.

I posted 2 pics in the 1ยบ topic, if people thought it wasn't enought, they could have done a search insted of going berserk, or simply ask more "clear" pics.

Anyway, those 4 pics have the very same hud, but in diferent game modes in UT2003, the hud is also a bit hidded/full acording to the people who took the pics (i didn't reinstall ut2003 just to show them, so i jsut went to ut2003 files site), but they all show it more or less opaque (i think it's writen like this in english, i mean you can see more/less trough the hud image).

I know what you mean. Who ever took the Hud, must not know how to do alpha channels, as Iam guessing they just took the Hud and saved it as a jpg file or bmp, so that the alpha channels where lost.
