As the installation process draws to a close, I get the following error:

I've tried both the all-in-one 80MB version, and installing the Aug 2006 DX9c redist, followed by the 20MB version, but I still get the same error.

Anyone know anything about this?

adr, Ok, I'm beginning to think that you have a missing DLL dependency required by DGDK.DLL. Can you please go to here http://www.dependencywalker.com/ and download the Dependency walker. Install it and then begin installing the DGDK.NET system again. When the error occurs, do not close the error dialog by clicking on any of the responses, but instead run the Dependency Walker and open the DGDK.DLL file that is located in your \Windows\System32 folder.

I need a complete list of any errors that it generates due to missing DLL dependencies that cannot be found on your machine.

Thanks.

Paul.

That is one excellent program. The log file shows

And the missing files are:

If you search through both of those files in google, you get this result: http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PageIndex=1&SiteID=1&PostID=336805&PageID=0

The first dude even says on that post
Quote: "it might be to do with msvcr80.dll being needed"

Which is a file I don't have. Of course, if he's full of crap, then that's ok.

I'm gonna download Visual C# Express since the guys in IRC (specifically Kentaree) seem to think that ATL80.dll is related to MS Development.

I was just going to use SharpDevelop, but hopefully installing Visual C# Express will fix the problem.

I've provided adr with the dependencies, and the next DGDK.NET installation update will also install them.

Still unsure if adr has resolved his problem though.

Does this mean that any games I release would have to include those files too?

I've just installed the following onto a fresh WinXP SP2 machine:
* DX9.0c October 2006 release
* MS .NET Framework 1.1
* MS .NET Framework 2.0
* Those redist files you sent me
* Every single update that windowsupdate.com could give me

And the failed with the same error. I'm downloading vs c# express and I'll see if that fixes the situation.

OK, Just to let you know. I installed VS Express edition and DGDK.NET installed OK! More interestingly, I removed DGDK.NET and VS express edition, and then try to reinstall DGDK.NET and the installation failed with exactly the same error as before. So, the VS range of products must install something required...

Thanks adr. I'm on the case. Also, as an added note. I will also include these files in DGDKSetup.exe, so that end user installs won't be so disasterous.

Yay. It's been fixed ... It was actually a disgustingly simple thing to fix, but I understand it'll be included in the next revision of the pack.

I'm having the same error. Can you give a few more details about how to solve this? What exactly do you mean by "Running the VCRedist before installation"?

Intel Pentium 4, 3.4GHz, 1280MB RAM, NVidia Quadro FX3000/256MB, 240GB HD, XP Pro
