Downloading the Gimp shouldn't have given you a virus... I've never had any trouble with it... (Well I suppose that depends on where you downloaded it from I suppose!!!)

Well if your willing to fork out some cash you got Jasc Paintshop Pro and if you want to go a high end you got adobe photoshop cs

But gimp I have that also with no virus on mine...

But if you got your images the way you want them and your just wanting to convert them then I totally suggest DDS Converter 2... All it does is convert file from like bmp to dds or jpg to tga or anyway you can think to mix things up as far as file extensions.

here is the link for the DDS Converter

Have you downloaded your CLiPs today.

Gimp is superior to Dogwaffle in my opinion.
I have never had a virus problem downloading the Gimp.
It isn't the Gimp and they have a decent rep so I don't think it's from the site or mirrors.
There are a bajillion ways to get a virus.
And you should have some kind of anti-virus protection.
AVG is free and works pretty good.

The Gimp can save and work with more image formats like .jpg,.png and .dds.
I played around with dogwaffle and it was okay.
I just think the Gimp is so much better.
It is the best image editing/paint program for free available and will give any paint program a run for its money.
Whether one paint program is better than another often lies with the opinion of the user.
You should use whatever program you work best with.

.dds???

The Gimp can't open or save .dds files, is there a plugin somewhere?

I thought the lastest version of the Gimp had the .dds plug in included in it.
If not you might try googling "gimp dds plug in" or something like that or there might be a link to the plug in on the Gimp's home site.
I know there is a .dds plug in because I have it and use it.
Unfortunatly I don't remember exactly where I found it...

maybe you should install something like SiteAdvisor as a first line of protection... It's quite useful as a first line of defense against bad download sites on the internet...

thats not technically a tga file, but it works like it. it sometimes is a little buggy though. go find and download "dds converter 2" it can convert files like jpg tga dds pgn and others.
