Wow. Nickydude's a dedicated Game Creator; he deserves something. (Compiling the forum's important topics is one hard task.)

Nickydude, when are you going to add more content about game design theory?

The next version will have a name change: "The FPSC Bible" so if anyone has any tutorials / scripts (especially about the new 1.09 stuff [headshots, variables, buying & selling, etc]) that would be great.

Naming it the "FPSC Bible" may cause some controversy.
I'd leave the name as it is. It's famous and we are all used to typing it by now.

I wrote a tutorial for the V109 variables in the script board if you haven't had a chance to look at it, yet.

I like the name idea. I mean, it's the closest thing to a "Bible" I've seen for an FPSC user.

Thanks Ply, I'll include your variable tut.

Thanks LT, some game play tips would be great, as long as:-

1/. They relate to FPSC and / or first person shooters.
2/. They are your tips or at least got permission off the original owner to include in the [bible].

Should I rename the next version of the guide? I've made a poll HERE to see what you think.

Nickydude

I enjoy what you have done with the Guides.
I was wondering in you will put my ally script in the new FPSC Hints & Tips guide.

It is 100% real and works.

If you will put it in then I will post here later, mainly because the ones I have posted are not up to date.

When are you going to feature the Poltergeist room? (That gave me a shock even just watching it in midday.)

The real Bible has a lot of spiritual success stories. So... Why not have some in the FPSC Bible? Just a thought.

It only looks like I know what I'm talking about.

Looking forward to it.

NOTE: The guide name will change from the next version onwards, but it won't be called FPSC Bible but something much better...

... and official.

Sounds cool.
Also here is the tutorial:

Using signs and not getting a blurred texture.
-Nathan.L

Signs, Its a common tool all of us use to create our segments and signs, we love signs to be honest, but when using signs it replaces our texture size, for example if I have a texture with the size of 756x756 although that is not a proper size, its reduces them to 512x512 depending if you have.
Now ingame with these brand new spanking segments our the texture is spoiled by the low resolution and blur.
All you need to do is go into the files of these segments and delete the DDS, FPSC Automaticly makes this DDS when testing ingame, so dont worry about it too much.
After that we get the original textures and place them in, now using our Painting tool we rename these textures and replace the one's signs made, now when we are inagame we can see better results then before.
Here are some results i got using 512x512 angaints a diffent size.

Now that these are replaced we now test our game and see the results.

Enjoy you're higher resolution textures in only around 52 clicks of the mouse.

Right guys, I'm having a major spruce of the guide, some of the stuff there is from way back when so I want to try to bring it up to date and the first thing is the Game Making Tips at the beginning. I'd like to condense this into about 20 serious tips so if anyone has and great up-to-date game making tips I'd love to see them.

As no one at all has provided any tips of any kind to me, I'm not sure I'll update the guide any more. I don't have the time now to trawl through the forums looking for stuff all the time and nobody has sent anything or even provided links as to what might go into the guide, which is a real same.

I'll do the hunting for you, Nickydude. I find a lot of help in the FPSC Hints and Tips guide, so when I find something interesting, I'll send you the link, if that's alright.

Thats a shame. I think it would be worth updating when (some) of the x10 feature migration comes through to x9 I believe this is being worked on and will be a free update. An official V2.0 of x9.

Some of the tips in the guide might have an alternate and easy solution in V2.0

One tip I can think of is when creating a game...just do the simple geometry first...walls, ceilings, gaps in walls for doors (no doors though) and floors. Then SAVE IT! When I first started using fpsc I went mad populating the level with entities all over the place. Then found the game was unplayable.

Now, I do a few changes and save a new version of the map. That way if you find the map is unplayable you can go back a step.
