I can't find a modeler that imports .X files AND UV Maps.
If this violating the 3D rules please tell me.

Thanks

Well, the original model doesn't have UV coordinates. Does this make them?

You can, its a UVMapper, so its bound to make UV Coordinates, probably the best UVMapper you can get for free.

Okay, in your main 3D modelling program, apply a material, save the model as a .obj, load into lithunwrap and perhaps that will solve it, it worked for me when exporting from Cinema 4d

there are two versions of lithium floating around that are free.
you probably have the version that requires any uvmap to start with.
just apply any UV map and export, from there lithium will allow you to organize it correctly.

http://www.unwrap3d.com/downloads.aspx

lithunwrap there, or alteratively you can try blender (free), that does modelling, UV mapping, texturing, and animating, so you'll never have to type Metasequoia again.

look for the other lithium free version, it will apply a uvmap without one in the model to start with.

I use LithUnwrap all the time and it imports models with no UV coordinates just fine, but it will give you a warning box to tell you it has none. If you use select all then select uv unwrap it will still make a map for you.

Or just use Wings' autoUV. There are a few tutorials floating around here if you can't figure it out on your own. It's a little tricky at first, but not hard to do once you figure out what it wants from you before unfolding. You may need another program for the x conversion, though.

In wings, I told some one else how to do this, so its copied straight from there, I said:
Quote: "
OK take your model, select all of it. Right click, and choose UV Mapping>Direct.
Rightclick again, and choose segment by>projection. Then right click again, and choose continue>porjection normal.

That works for most simple objects. If you have a complicated object, you'll have to select faces automatically, and choose an AUVchart color manually. (It's what I do. I'm sure there might be an easier way)"
