Revenge is a multiplayer fps that is based loosely on Doom, Doom II, and Wolfenstien. You play as Jack Fantastic, a guy with a trench coat and glasses who wants to get a piece of the action. It is a 2 to 4 player LAN game, uses 2d planes for everything, so there is no 3d models, but plenty of 3d "effects". For this beta version you can play on three different maps, use the shotgun, handgun, double barrel shotgun, chain gun, and chainsaw.

You HAVE to use your ip address to host a game. To find it, you can use command prompt and type systeminfo, or double click the internet icon that should be in the right side of your task bar (if there are other ways, tell me so I can update this).

Remember this is a beta, so there will probably be some problems, and the game doesn't look as cool as it will once we get the full amount of media done. But after seven months of production, this project has gotten pretty far. The multiplayer uses Ben's tempest dll and collision is done by Sparky's collision dll, both which I highly recommend.

Download the zip file attached, and also the next one, which will contain the media. Put the media folder in the Revenge Beta 1 folder and it should be all set. I'll also add some screenies later, but you can look at them right off my site: http://www.biofoxgames.com/revenge.php Comments and suggestions are welcome!

Completed:
-Create and join a game
-Player movement
-Shooting and weapon animations
-Collision
-Score system
-Five maps*
-Beta 1 testing*
-Special abilities (one shot kills and invisibility)*

*: New completions

Things to finish:
-All of the character animations#
-Creating the angle system (to create 3d effect on players)#
-Menus and a decent GUI#

#:Beta 3 additions

looking good so far.

The way it looks at the moment reminds me of the old wolfenstein game for the PC. I loved it.

I actually really like the approach, I really enjoy programmers who use all their own content. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the replies. The guns, especially the chain gun and chainsaw, will be fixed because they look like they're pointing up. The other guns might be fixed as well.

@Prince Of Darkness: There could be a couple reasons this isn't working. Make sure you choose host, not join to play a game by yourself. The ip address you are entering may also be wrong, make sure to use the LAN ip.

We did some more testing of Beta and we found a few problems. When you respawn, the ammo dosen't reset, so you could end up with nothing but a handgun. Also, when you die shooting with the the chain gun, it continues shooting when you respawn and then messes up all the weapons. Anyone find any other problems?

Don´t change the guns! They make this game look a little different from all the other quadrupillions of FPS:s. Although, you could repaint some of the guns so they don´t point upwards. Good luck!

Thanks for the support, zzz. I agree that most of the guns look fine, with the exception of the chain gun. It has been the one gun that our designer has done over and over, and we'll see if we can have another go at it. The main problem we're having is that the game goes too slow with three or more people. Has this happened to other people and what are the ways you've fixed it?

Okay, our sound tech wiped up some music for the game, two of them are obvious doom clones, but "Demons from the Sky" is an original and will be on the title screen. Any thoughts?

Haven't posted in awhile, but we've been working hard. The biggest problem we have is slow down when three to four people are playing. However, everything else is working fine.

The most significant addition is the dynamic file system I wrote. Instead of hard coding all of the information for the maps, I put them in text files and load the maps from there. Makes it a lot easier to release new maps.

Also, we've made two new maps, one of which is from our previous game Immortal Guardian. Check out our site: http://www.theducttapeclub.org and forums: http://biofox.aceboard.com for updates.

New screen shots on the first post.
