Softimage are about to release version 6 of their flagship character modelling and animation package, which I use and love.

New feature videos can be downloaded - it now has the best material creation system on the market - "quickshader"- here.

I recommend the fun with gator video (animation) and ultimapper(normal-mapping) videos, and maybe the XSI game example (where you can play a game in an XSI interface window and tweak the level mesh and play the game at the same time.)

I saw this, can't wait, shame I'm going lightWave, but hey I'll probably buy SI in the not so distant future, possibly when they release version 7 .

I noticed the videos, it is looking awesome, every time I look at Softimage I want it more, I guess an app like that, deserves to be bought first I'm afraid, especially when becoming a hobbyist game maker.

Also, I love you for this:
