I am very close to developing my first program. A Quake style shooter.
Nothing new I know but the intention is to show a working example of my multi media abilites and to give away a free game.

The intended game I have in mind will be much better and more complicated in its play format.

What I really need to do now is create a website based on the background setting for my games(of which I hope for several gaming formats will eventually be created) and have a download link for the free game/games, artwork etc for other users who will be allowed to use it in their own progs provided the setting is used. However the eventual aim is to develope a commercial game/games which may be published.

A website of this type is new to me however and I could with a few pointers as to how to go about this.

Well feel free to checkout the new design of the FMTau site being done which is is the News of my forum (available as my website link)
the design's shown are basically what we're gonna end up with

and the past 2 days of development Martyn's been working on the forum, which is making fantastic progress
you site should say something unique about your games and such, my design is from another artist's website because i liked it - but the actual base for the features are picked from everywhere.

favourite foible of an artist is if they like something they'll nab it and change it for themselves (^_^) god know why, but we like the inspiration like that.

what you'll want for the design is to make everything relatively simple to access, and the design to be as clean as possible. I mean the games themselves can have seperate websites akin to thier design - but for you're teams site it should be a very clean and simple affair
checkout the larger development houses, suchas Bungie they've got a nice site ... and digital illusions is cool too.

a game's site should embrace the feel of the game though, a good example of this is the new and updated Unreal2.com site

One block follows the suit ... the whole suit of blocks is the path ... what have you found?
