A little while ago I was testing large terrains in FPSC,I am now well aware of the issues involved with this, collision problems, enemies falling through etc. This particular terrain has no collision problems with the player however and I have a question ,would it work in multiplayer mode? Personaly I haven't gotten into mp yet and I was wondering if someone could try this out.If it worked it would open up a lot of possibilities. If not then it could maybe be used as a puzzle level, without enemies.
The canyon has caves and paths,to reach some of the upper levels would require placing of stairs and platforms. You also have to place a floor level. Some areas would require invisible walls.
As this model is huge and I mean huge you have to place it dead centre on the map,and at level 0.

@butyouman
As I said, you have to place the model dead centre and at level 0,if it hangs over the edge of the map it will not show up.The model will show if placed correctly as my screenshots show. Also place a player marker in the centre to ensure you are 'inside' the model. It'a little tricky, but achievable

It works great once you get it setup correctly and it looks amazing. The cutouts and tunnels are custom made for walkways and bridges. This could be an entire level.

Yeah, thats the intention, there's not much room for anything else.
11748 poly's,I got average 32fps.
Anyone tried this as multiplayer yet?

I don't know about multiplayer, but I have problems with keeping enemies above ground right now. Still working on it.

Best.

BTW: I resized the canyon entity just a little smaller and it's much easier to get into the editor.

@Explosys,as I said you wont be able to use enemies on a terrain this size,I did try slicing it up,theres some discussion on the forums about keeping terrain size to 3x3 units to achieve this, but it became difficult to align the various parts. If you reduce the scale you may have problems with collision in tunnel sections, caught in tight spaces, head poking through ceilings etc.
If you zoom right out of the map it's not too hard to place.

What I did so far so they don't fall through the floor I added a floor to the level and then added the canyon. I can add entity to the main floor and he will just walk through the wall or part of the floor.
If you don't have to much light , it looks like he just walkout of a cave or some place.
If you want them up higher . just make a platform with stairs and put them on that.works pretty good
But you don't have to listen to me ...I'm crazy.. .

Chris, this model was posted mainly for fpsc users to test, the competition rules do not allow FPSC users to exceed 15x15 grid units and this far exceeds that, placing them at an unfair advantage in this case.Sorry, but I would have to state that this model may not be used in this particular competition.

yer it is amazing!

I tried this a while ago to no sucsess..

The 512X512 map just isnt enough, plus i didn't know how to do all the walkways at once, cos it would need a very complicated map.

Really good work, I can see lots of possiblitys open up for exterior scenes real soon.

my rubbish attempt attached

(it was supposed to be sci-fi-ish, but i gave up)

Looking good but to build the levels better would be to have the caves as diffrent parts instead off one big thing.

Good work on this and it works well.
