Hi All,

Was just wondering how exactly does the SAVE/LOAD options come about? I recently obtained my download of FPSC again and I also installed the model pack #1 that was given free to the EA users when FPSC first came out! I was one of thoes users here..
However though, Like I said just a moment ago...

I installed FPS Creator V1 English Language
Then I installed FPSCreatorModelPack1
And then I installed FPSCreator_103_RC2

The last TGC Magazine said that FPSCreator_103_RC2 had
the SAVE/LOAD option in that update... Well, I installed the 3 installation packages above, And I still dont see the SAVE/LOAD option after compiling a game with the new update. I realize the latest update is FPSC_104_RC3, However I also installed this once as well only to get the same thing?!? What am I doing wrong here guys?!?? Do I need to installed the other updates before the latest one in order to obtain the SAVE/LOAD option? Or what is the trick in getting this to work? I appreciate any help that anybody may have to offer me here.

Thank's again...

Best Regards,

DoctorWho...

When you build your game click on "new" and give it the name you want.
Then add the levels.
Do not adjust the global settings. If you want custom settings change the setup file after you bild your game.
Select whatever texture and shader options you want and then build your game.
You should have save/load.

From what I hear the save/load is non functional in the 104rc3 (I haven't tried it myself yet)
So you may have to uninstall everything and start over.

That should have done it.
As Fred said...

Hmmmmm... I just tried everything mentioned, And unfortunately I still dont have the SAVE/LOAD option....
When I run the compiled game, All I see in the menu is NewGame and ExitGame ONLY!!!

I've already installed FPSC like 5 times now and still get the same thing. I did however add the map-editor file in addition to the previous installed files to hope that this will correct the problem. Unfortunately it doesn't!! The Spash startup screen still shows V1 instead of the current v104.. I suppose that Im' doing something wrong yet again... Just my luck huh?

I'm pretty sure those functions are in empty's mod, and even if they are in v1.04, I think there isn't a option in the menu, but a key you hit like an "F" key for save and another for load etc.

He said, "You drink when you're lonely." No I drink when I want!
He said, "You'll never be sober." Sure. Why would I want that?

There is an option in the menu after you compile a NEW game. If you are using a game thet you created in a previous version or a game that came with FPSC you will not see the save/load option. You must create a NEW game.

Best.

Interesting...

So I simply cant just take one of my previous games from the other version or any of the FPSC games and compile them to obtain the new SAVE/LOAD option? Ok... So if I want to incorporate these newly added options to my existing games, What should I do in order to get this accomplished then?

Plus it seems that im' still having trouble trying to get FPSC to V1.04

Could anybody be so kind to lay out the exact files needed in order to bring FPSC up to V1.04? What I mean is this as an example:

FPS Creator V1 English Language
(Main Install program for FPSC)

FPSCreator_103_RC2
(The update with SAVE/LOAD)

Would these two files be enough to show the version number on the
FPSC-Splash screen? Or... Do I need to update from the lowest update going upwards? What I mean is, Install the main FPSC program, Install update#2, Then update#3, Then update#4?!??
Or... Is it that all I need to do is simply just install the main FPSC program and the lastest update which would be update#4 and that be it?!? I think this here and not knowing the proper order in which to install the updates might be messing up my FPSC install. That's why I need to know which to the proper way to do this? I realize this sounds quite stupid here, But considering my problems I've been having trying to get this to work in all... I found it necessary to ask these questions with hope in clearing this issue up hopfully. A many thanks in advance to all thoes trying to help me out here.

DrWho,

I got the save game button to show by converting the save button graphic to a dds and then renaming the savegame.tga in the setuplevel.fpi to savegame.dds.

Works great for me now.

I tried a few other things before that and the button just would not show up. Afer I did that it worked.

As for the updates I uninstalled all the previous updates and just installed v104 and that did it for me. This would not include model packs, if you have any of them just leave them be.

What kind of issues are you having getting to the V104 patch?

Rock on with ya bad self!

The person that now knows the most started with many questions. Patients and tolorance are the keys to the passage of knowledge. FPSC is Getting better. Now if we can just keep the ball rolling.

@incense,
Why would you bump a nearly 4 month old thread? I'm just not getting what you think could be so pertinent after this long. You've been here since 2005 and you have no more clue now then you did when you started?

Since you brought up this thread, why not keep it in the limelight and explain the mindset so we can all understand. If we could figure out what makes someone have a total disregard for other members, and any rule set we observe as a community, perhaps we could fix it. Since so many people seem to have this problem, maybe it's in some way the mods or communities fault for this kind of selfishness.

We'd love to help but we need to understand the mind behind the action first..

I think it is unfair to blame the community as a whole for the actions of a few individuals.
i was under the impression that threads locked automatically or at least you cannot reply to them after so long.
Maybe the good folks at TGC who handle this kind of think should make an adjustment.
I could lock this but maybe I ought to leave it open so other forum embers can express their feelings about having important topics pushed down the page or possibly suffering the "next page of doom" because this was bumped.
Then maybe the next person wouldn't bump an old thread like this.
...and I am rockin' on with my bad self...or something like that.

I have to agree with you on that one.
